Video Playback is inconsistent
Some of my video files play fine, but others play back with a lot of video artifacts, as if the i3 can't read the video fast enough. Looks like pixelation.
- The exact same video files play back on my M3 perfectly while being buggy in the i3 - The exact same video file on the exact same usb thumb drive plays on my M3 perfectly while being buggy in the i3. - Other video of the same file type (mp4, m4v) playback fine, so it's not that. - All my videos are h264 - Data rates don't show a pattern. Some of my high bit rate files play fine, while some low ones don't and vice versa. - I've tried different USB thumb drives, same result. Anyone have this same problem? Any fixes? Video formats that work for sure? What version iDrive does my 2015 i3 have? I want to check other BMW model forums to see if they have the same problem.

Can video be played through the idrive without coding? I haven't tried loading anything from a usb I just use Bluetooth. If it can play mp4 from a usb I will try this over the weekend.

It can, but you have to be parked. My i3 is coded.

Coding is required to enable additional codecs. But, some will play from factory.

Thanks, that's helpful information. Do you know any specific codecs that work or fail? I have everything in mp4 or iTunes format, and I can accept having to reformat once or twice in testing but would prefer to avoid known problematic codecs.
Maybe it's the underlying codec that is the trigger issue for OP. |
