IMHO this car will actually be pretty fun to drive. Not a a lot of power, no, but a small, lightweight RWD car is always a good time. In fact, its pretty ironic all the hate this car is getting (and will continue to get I'm sure) given that people always complain that there are no small, lightweight RWD cars on the market. And yes I know a Smart ForTwo is also RWD, but it's smaller (too small) and yet still heavier than the I3.

I'd rather this than a 1 series UKL or a mini, for sure. Plus, SCOTT has hinted they are looking at other more sporty form factors for this platform and also non-electrics. So, there is great potential here. I'll take mine with two seats and a BMW S1000 RR engine, please. Remember the Smart Roadster? If anyone can expand and improve upon that idea, it is BMW. I just hope they decide to approve more vehicles on this platform and take the "i" brand in this direction.

Now think of all the energy required not only to produce more cars but to recycle these cars. I can assure you that the energy consumed in the future will outweigh the waste left behind on todays cars as fas as an impact on the environment goes.

People are so easily lead into this whole "green" movement. Consumerism is what's really going on here, not the well being of the environment.

I like the idea of making a "greener" car. Sometimes I just wonder if that's really what's going on.
I dont think the idea is as much for it to be "disposable" whe the materials used can return to the earth. I think they mean for the car to be able to be taken back and the drivetrain used again after being refurbished. Thats why the drive train and cabin are modular. That is the idea of the closed lease (i think thats what they call it).

Along the same lines, the materials used such as the carbon fiber can be reused in vehicles. This makes it cost effective for BMW and possibly reduces costs for consumers

Im not saying I know anything more than you guys do but that was just an example of what were dealing with when they say "recyclable". I don't think the goal is to make it able to be safe for the dumps. I think they mean they can recycle the parts and components into new vehicles.

the shape of this vehicle sucks. its tall and not-wide and goofy all over. if the prius-shape is the only thing that gets good aero, fine, I will avoid all versions and deviations of it.

But why can't we have a car in the sporty shape/stance of the i8 with the economy and lack of luxuries that makes it i3. that would redefine hybrid.
