Speaking of your i8, what may I ask is the significance or meaning behind the emblem situated between the front wheel well and the door panel?

Thanks

From Wiki (edited):

The Sikh Khanda (☬ Punjabi: ਖੰਡਾ, khaṇḍā ) depicts a double edged sword (also called Khanda). "Deg Tegh Fateh"

The Khanda Emblem is an amalgam of three symbols, represented by three different items.
- a double-edged sword also called a Khanda which is in the centre
- the Deg (cauldron)
- two single-edged swords, or kirpans, are crossed at the bottom and sit on either side of the Khanda and Chakkar. They represent the dual characteristics of Miri-Piri, indicating the integration of both spiritual and temporal sovereignty together and not treating them as two separate and distinct entities.

Deg Tegh Fateh (Punjabi: ਦੇਗ ਤੇਗ਼ ਫ਼ਤਿਹ; means Victory to Charity and Sword) is a Sikh slogan signifies the dual responsibility of Khalsa to provide food and protection for the needy and oppressed.

The cauldron symbolises "charity", as in langar, the free distribution of food. The sword (talwar) represents the warrior code of the Khalsa, The Khanda emblem is a graphical design based on the slogan.

Funny mine came with that feature too! If I can now just convince the cops who keep giving me tickets that it is an aerodynamic requirement....

On top of contemplating wrapping the sills, I'll be thinking of emblems as well. Thanks for the enlightening explanation regarding the Sikh Khanda Emblem, which, by the way, looks great on your i8.

I've been lucky so far and had no trouble. Apart from the car being so low that my front plate keeps being ripped off by speed bumps of course....

yw, thanks

i-division did such a great job with the look of the car that I've struggled to find modifications I feel can actually improve the looks. This was a tiny and subtle enhancement, which was "personal".

About wrapping the sills, I too looked into a CF wrap. But I was very strongly advised against doing so by a specialist wrapper. They said that 1) it would probably peel off if applied to the sills, and 2) it would scratch easily due to shoes scraping it there.

It was enough to dissuade me

The subtle enhancement and its placement was a nice touch. I appreciate your sharing the advice regarding the CF wrap. Sounds like I'm better off leaving the sills the way they are. Thanks!

My daughter is going to UVA starting in August. So we've put a UVA decal on the back window of the i8 -- the V with the stylized crossed swords. Looks great. Other than the coding that's my only "mod."

Congrats on your daughter's acceptance to UVA. I understand they have a terrific pre-law and graduate law program. Back to the i8, interesting V symbol with the crossed swords.

I find this forum a nightmare...the wait!!! Based in Scotland... First post

I'm on the waiting list for my i8...1/7/16.

Mainly cause I got a crazy good deal but it means it's linked to the end of my lease.

Easy on the M drivers. I drive a new M5.

Very different experience in the M5. It actually has too much power. I'm gonna go back to a M5/m6 after the i8 when/if it gets 4wd.

The main thing I noticed in the i8 is its stability around corners, the M5 requires the Scandinavian flick and can be hairy!

It's also got the heads up rev counters but to be honest even in sports plus I hardly ever use it. On track yes.

I just fell in love with the i8. simples!

As a former M driver, I've enjoyed the ample power the M engines delivered to the M3 and M6 chassis I've driven. Perhaps like your M5, each has very different handling characteristics that needs to be mastered.

The i8, on the other hand, offers scalpel like precision handling off track as a result of its low center of gravity and equal weight distribution.

I agree with that description, and in fact in my initial review in this thread, I compared the i8's handling to a Lotus. It really is that precise.

The i8 is driven with finesse and accuracy, not in a heavy-handed manner like a brutish overpowered RWD saloon car. As yw said, a lot of the reason for that is its 49:51 weight distribution and low COG. I LOVE cars like this

But I would that the software engineers have also done a phenomenal job in making the different powerplants work together so well in delivering the torque to the road.

A very impressive drivers' car indeed

Cool 1 week trip for 4, in an i8?

Does this look like a suitable car to pack luggage for a 1 week trip to Scotland, for a family of 4?

Well, the answer seems to be yes, it is no problem at all. We just packed everything we need for the four of us, including a dinner suit that I will require for a formal event.

The answer was to use custom fitted luggage, thus making use of 100% of the boot space, combined with Eagle Creek garment folder and a suiter (not photographed), both sitting on the huge shelf above the boot. An Eagle Creek compression cube was very useful, to take small items of clothing to compress them tightly, and then put it inside the fitted luggage.

Pleasantly surprised by how usable the i8 can be, with the right luggage solutions. We have room to spare in fact, although we did pack only what was essential (travelling light).

Yes, I kept it subtle on this car. I have a larger one on my Lotus though
[see post #1 of this thread, and the video in post #2]

I don't like anything hanging from my mirror though as I find it distracting.

My i8 now updated with DisplayKey

Interesting to read lots of our old posts on the DisplayKey from a year ago in this thread. Also the pics of the "Old" and "new" design of the key. Oddly enough, the final key reverted back to the original (better) design
