i had to do a double take on the khanda. so great to see a sikh person tastefully modding their car. so many people out here do the tackiest stuff to their cars.

Thanks Aman

Less is more Especially in a car weighing just 750kg.

And to be fair the rest of the Lotus is so heavily modded that there is barely an original part left on the car.....perhaps just the doors and bonnet (or hood as the Americans know it? )

I borrowed an i3 from BMW for 3 days, and have it at home now. I will post up my thoughts on the extended test in a couple of days' time

Also had a test drive in a Toyota Prius this morning. Will post up a v short review when I'm on a PC

Best thing about having an i3 for such a long period is that it is helping deal with my i8 withdrawal symptoms

Very difficult going cold turkey after having so much time behind the wheel of the i8, and now having to wait so long for delivery of my own i8

This is helping

Great review.

Test drive the i8 myself yesterday. Phenomenal car. Steering almost as good as my 458 and the suspension as good as 12C. Technologically advanced.

Very impressed.

Have placed a deposit, but really I wantthe spider...any news on this?

Thanks

Sunny

Thanks Sunny, and that is a fair assessment of the car. I believe the Spider is heavier and slower, but I do think it is better looking. I however really want the 2+2 seating aspect of the i8 so the Spider is not an option for me anyway.

I ended up having the i3 REx for 4 days thanks to an error by the BMW dealer. In short, I was so impressed by the car that I placed an order for an i3 (BEV) for my wife

Delivery in December, although I expect that will slip to January.

i8 driven very hard

As I suspected, if provoked very hard, the i8 will over-steer.

Very entertaining video of some hard driving in an i8 and also a Jaguar F Type

The reviewer however had a safe space, and the ability to turn off the stability systems

Full credit to Savory for the review posting in another thread. My favourite i8 review yet

I'm not entirely sure regarding the shorter wheelbase rumours. It would mean changing panels and increasing costs for BMW. Let's see what they say in December 2015 and closer to that time the rumours.

I doubt those rumours too. My thoughts are the rear seat space is simply lost because of the roof mechanism and parts. Most probably same wheelbase.

BMW have enough on their plate with the likely imminent i4 and i5 cars, to re-engineer the i8 chassis so much just for a Spider version.

When is your coupe planned to arrive? Not sure if I should get the coupe and then get in line for the spyder or just wait for the spyder.

Mine is arriving in May, so a long wait for me

Up to you, but I have a feeling you could sell the coupe for pretty much what you paid for it, when you took delivery of your Spider

Scarcity of supply indicates very good residuals for the i8.

Not long to go at all.

I'm not a fan of 'flipping' cars. Rather get the car I will keep than use up someone's slot that actually wants it.

Sunny, that is a great attitude

About the wait time, so long as I get it in May, I can live with it. It's the start of good weather here anyway Plus, my i3 will arrive in Dec/Jan, to keep me occupied anyway

Top Gear magazine

I noticed the i8 on the cover of Top Gear magazine, with the heading "The Best Cars in the World".

Magazine link

Has anyone read it? Does it have any significant i8 content?

(I tried to subscribe over the phone, but they could not confirm which issue I would start with, and it seemed not to be that one )

Secondly, I note the next issue has a major feature on the i8:

New issue Top Gear

I will buy this one for sure

I had a browse through that issue, and no it doesn't. It's not worth getting that issue IMHO.

As for the 'Good vs. Evil' edition, that's an older edition, and was worth getting as it has a dedicated feature on the i8.

It's got a paragraph or two, nothing significant.

The Good vs. Evil is last month's issue. Sitting on my coffee table It's got a good long eval.

Thanks guys, I will seek out that issue of Top Gear then. I had wrongly thought it was next month's issue.

Can someone pls confirm the issue number, and the "month" on the cover, so I can order the correct back issue?

mpgrant, thanks, that explains your earlier date then
