i3 94Ah - common issues
Hello everyone,
Lease on our "family-shared" 2017 i3 94Ah is ending. We're currently on 34 000 km / 21 250 miles with current battery capacity of 28.1 kWh. We're debating on whether to buy the car from leasing company. Offered price is not that bad. The only thing I've got no idea about are some common issues with those cars in a long term / high milage ownership (except the battery of course which seems to be pretty fine now). I'm mainly asking about some issues that could couse some expensive bill and a long time that it'd spend in a service. Since this is a needed daily :-). Thanks! Michal |

I’ve owned 3 EVs so far with the 3rd being the i3. EVs are amazing and there are rarely problems or big maintenance costs as the car ages. However I do want to share that I almost bought a 2017 i3 REx with 26k miles for $15k so use that to compare to your lease buy out price and decide if yours is a good deal.

Well, I would not buy an unknown second hand BMW that was not covered by BMW Premium Selection
that said, if it has been in the family since new you should know the condition of the car. We have to replace the steering gear including servo and I'm really happy that it our i3 2016 is under warranty since the estimated cost is 34000 SEK, roughly $3900. |
