My brother - who owns a 911 & Boxster - opines on the i8

He owns a ‘14 911S (stick) & ‘14 Boxster GTS (auto).

1. He loves the spaceship exterior & interior look, especially the blue that lights up when unlocking the car. He likes it has backseats similar to his 911.

2. He underestimated the handling of the car and was surprised by the sharp handling.

3. In his opinion, the car’s acceleration is faster & smoother than be thought. Despite its performance, he was in disbelief my i8 is averaging 50 miles to the gallon (I commute locally on e-drive 80% of the time).

4. He loved the sound of both the petrol engine and even the electric motor’s spaceship-like sound, despite having a low expectation for “electric cars.” I didn’t tell him it’s speaker-amplified. He liked the old-school (gas) & new-school (electric) sounds, whether on e-drive or combined together in sports mode. He was amazed that it can switch from front-wheel e-drive to all-wheel sports mode.

5. He thinks the car is as comfortable as other GT cruisers. He was expecting something less comfortable b/c of the sports car look. He loved the little details in the seats.

6. He doesn’t like the skinny tires. That said, his GTS Boxster’s rear P-ZERO tires are 265s. Not much more than the i8’s 245s.

7. He’s going to try to convince his friend from buying another M5 and consider the i8.

8. He wants to drive it again, but this time during the day, so he can be seen in it.

That's an honest review. I've had similar reactions from my friends!

With the i8 ... driving it is believing, it is hard to understand the car without some serious seat time. I got 3 years in it already!

Nice review from a fellow P car owner.

My view: P car = track, i8 = very cool street car if u can live with the ergonomics.
