I dont think it is quit there yet, since I am still waiting to get my vin number from BMW first, so then i can start checking the status i guess?

When you ordered they should have given you a production number that you can use to track online and setup an account.

I have just called them, and they said they will send out my order to BMW within a week or two, then I could get my reference number, which is used to check the status of the order

My ship is docked in Baltimore; I think Big Fred's may also be on the same ship; it took about 8 days to cross; the BMW site is always behind when it comes to seeing where you are in production etc, but the dealer has a much better idea of where you are in the process.

Something is a bit off, this is at MSRP not including destination. Much less taxes, etc...

Its in NJ, heck I'd buy it at that price! If I didn't hate the brown interior.

No one should be paying anything over sticker on i8's at this point (I paid sticker at launch FWIW). $139.5k is just $50 more than sticker on a Giga World i8.

I think there is still a lot of over sticker sales, and that listing looks a little iffy. it has been listed and relisted and few times, and if you take it at face value you pay no destination charge and no taxes. Which is not really how it is for a car listed as new.

Do eBay listings from dealerships usually include destination and taxes? I can see listing destination but the tax thing seems too variable to make it a concrete number. For instance, if I went to Maryland and bought a car, I wouldn't pay Md's 6% car tax, I'd get an exemption and end up paying the 4% of Virginia. So listing the price including tax would be just as erroneous as listing it without it, depending on where you live.

Good point but what about destination charge?

Ok I have tried to reach out to dealer via ebay and e-mail to clarify, and all I am getting is "where can we call you to discuss" or "when can you come in to discuss." So I am starting to think its not what it seems. But I am actually interested in the car, so I have given them the number and will update when I hear back...

The whole "bait and switch" advertising model has become so prevalent in dealership advertising the FTC has a large scale investigation into dealer advertised prices going on right now. I guess the i8 isn't immune to this phenomenon.

What I find shocking is this: does it EVER work? I mean do I know I am not going to get sc****d, but then I contact the dealer and go "oh wait never mind, I DID want to give you an extra $100K?"

Really?

Do you have a link or other citation to that so I can read it in the FTC's words?

Thanks in advance.
