Talking i8 official Carbon Fibre dealer upgrage retrofit

I had the Carbon Fibre retrofit done to my i8.

Lovely, high quality carbon, with a fantastic texture. Non glossy, which is perfect for the i8.

Far better quality than the carbon trim used in all other BMWs, or elsewhere on i8.

Looks great and the dealer did a nice job. How much fully fitted if you don’t mind me asking?

I really don't know the price, sorry. Long story, but I got it free.

But another member here said it was £2,200 fitted.

So JasH, I thought your car was nearing the end of its lease, or am I confusing you with another limey, er I meant to say esteemed citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Damn, that's a long name for a country. We're thinking of changing ours to "The States of America that are sometimes United but usually not". And once the country's name change takes effect, our Idiot in Chief (IIC) plans to build a wall around both our eastern and western flanks to keep foreign, non-American football (aka soccer) hooligans out. Canada is excluded for the time being, until such time as we impose tariffs against the import of Canadian whiskey and Celine Dion. And get this, IIC wants the wall to be built by the same people that built the Maginot Line along the eastern border of France prior to WWII because we all know how well that worked

Are you sure you can't make it to Munich in July? Just think how much fun you, me and Clarkson could have together once we've had a few beers

LOL

Nope, I've never leased any car in my life. I am likely to hang on to the i8 for a while yet - at least until I find a superior replacement.

I don't know about Munich yet. When it comes up for applications, I will apply if I am still able to. So, we will see what happens.

People are starting to receive PI cancellations now though, after the 3 years.

FYI, registration for the Munich event is now open and goes through 18 April. From what I have been told, last year's Munich event had 96 requests for entry, with only 60 accepted. Once registration closes, they conduct a lottery to determine who gets to participate. Since I won't take delivery of my car until after registration has closed, BMWNA was able to arrange for me to get signed up now even though I'm not yet an official PI participant.

BTW, I also learned from the PI event team in Barcelona that there will be another Leipzig event in September this year. I was going to combine a Leipzig factory tour as part of my trip to Munich in July, but they advised that the PI factory tour will be so much better, so I'm now planning to wait until September for that.

Man, retirement is great (provided one has enough Krugerrands to make it interesting)

I applied for Munich yesterday Last year it wasn't a lottery though. It was first come first served.

They typically do 3 Leipzig events each year, so you will definitely get on that.

Both are worth doing, and completely different. You can't compare these two events.

Glad you like it. The dealer did a perfect job. It's as perfect as any factory installed trim on my car.

You have PM

my experience with cf bits is that over longer period of time, they become a source of squeaks and other bothersome noises...

That will be aftermarket stuff that doesn't fit properly.

This has perfect fit, and comes from BMWi. Same CF as on a brand new factory fit i8 CF option
