I spoke to my CA contact who confirmed with the parts dept that they think it would work for the F8X chassis but there is no way to be 100% sure until someone places an order for one with their VIN. Its a $500 gamble.

In case the information helps, I got my DisplayKey last year (UK), and had to provide my driving licence, passport and also V5 (vehicle registration document) to the official BMWi dealer, despite having purchased my i8 new from them.

They are very security conscious, which I am pleased about.

This is kinda funny. Sounds like you figured all this out last year and got your key. Also funny is the standard "i" key on the left looks like a spare key while the display key definitely looks the part of a real i8 key.

I purchase mine from BMW for my late 2014 i8.
These are the parts needed for the upgrade.
Around 650 euros including coding.

I reached out to my dealer about it twice. Haven't heard anything. Curious as to what you're told.

Did you just order these parts or do you already have it working on your 2014?

This is what the dealer ordered to make it work on my 2014.
Same as a friend of mine who already has the key working, his i8 is also 2014

Does this include comfort access?

Not sure if I'm right but I believe comfort access wasn't available on 2014 cars. Mine is a Nov 2014 but doesn't have comfort access.

Retro fitting the display key doesn't add comfort access.

If you have comfort access prior to having the display key, you will still be able to use keyless entry as if you we using one of the standard keys. If you don't already have comfort access, the unlock/lock buttons on the display key will still need to be used.

from the parts list above I belive they are retrofitting that also, but I didn't asked for it...anyway, they know what they are doing so maybe the touch key doesn't work without it.

61359397846 seems to be a keyless entry module...

That would be a nice bonus if it comes through!

Some i8's don't have CA? WTHeck? Both of our i3's have it.

Key seems cool but I think it would get old, who wants to carry that huge thing around? I wish our smart phones could act as keys.
