i8 engine / compartment cleaning

I just purchased a Copper 2019 i8 Roadster in immaculate condition and absolutely love it! Admittedly I was surprised to see how dirty the engine area is however I am guessing between the difficulty to access, visibility to clean, mid-engine location, potential impact to electrical systems, modules, etc., the previous owner may have never tried to clean it.
I have searched the internet and see nothing (pro or con). So, anyone have experience with cleaning your engine area? Suggestions on using soap and water or just keep it dry and use a high pressure air nozzle with limited results?
Your input is welcome. Thanks, Don
