Angry Driver side door doesnt go all the way up

I have had my i8 for almost 3 months now and for the past few weeks when I open up the driver's side door, it goes up but not alllll the way up.

If I give it a little push it does, but should I just put some WD-40 on it? *shudder*

Thanks,
N

I would drive by the dealer have them look at it.

Agree. Dealer should fix it. Are you in cold weather already, by any chance? That can make the door shocks a little more sluggish. Some people may know this from rear hatches on other cars.

I am seeing the same problem with my car recently, sometimes have to give it an extra push for it to go all the way up

SoCal - you're clearly not in cold weather.

I have the same issue and I'm in Florida. They're going to replace the shock that holds it up.

I told my dealer that my driver's side door wouldn't open all the way and that under normal operation the shock sounded like it had pop-rocks in it. I asked them if they had the part in stock. Of course they didn't so I told them to order it and notify me when it came in. They're going to replace it when I bring it in for service after Thanksgiving. It's a warranty issue the dealer makes money off warranty claims so it's in everyone's best interest to replace it.

Mine go up 95% of the way. I have to push it slightly to get it to the top. Is that normal?

Doors should go all the way up. Make a notation with your service advisor so that the replacement parts will be available during your vehicle's next upcoming service.
