Now that spyshots of the BMW i3 have been plenty, it's not difficult to imagine what the production i3 will resemble. That's what Car and Driver's artist has done here, in this render of an i3 which they call "Scion xD meets the scoundrel pigs from Angry Birds."

The render is somewhat believable, based on current spy photos and the original Megacity render released by BMW (posted below for reference).

Despite being an all electric vehicle, the BMW i3 will have sporty intentions. It's been confirmed to be RWD and "mid-engined" and has all along been advertised as using extensive use of carbon fiber to keep its weight down while maintaining structural rigidity. It will be the world's first volume production car made of lightweight carbon fiber and is to be built in Leipzig. BMW expects to have the cars produced in "Significant volumes" by 2013, targeting 30,000 annual sales at the get-go.

Head on over to Car and Driver for their article and info on the BMW i3.

It does look rather "piggy" doesn't it... not my taste but the only electric car I've seen that is,.... is the Tesla.

doesn't look like the render is accurate compared to the spy shots. However, it is closer to BMWs render

Yeah, look how low the headlights are in the spy shots, as compared to the render. Either way, I'm not sure about all this.

Not the greatest rendering based on the spy photo...??? Front windscreen and many other details don't seem to match up at all. The rendering looks more promising than the spy photos reveal IMO.

I don't want an electric car, especially if it is being forced on me by some damn socialists.

Audi A2 (all aluminium body shell) was ahead of its time and had to be killed of early. BMW timed i3 at the right time. I like both cars.

Who will be the first to render an i3 M? lmao

am I the only one that notices that the render other than overall shape has non of the design features shown in the spy shots. ie- the tails how they jet out, how low the headlights are. i feel like they just took a picture of a pontiac Vibe and put kidneys and better headliights on...Not impressed
