Wheel balance problems act like alignment issues

I have discovered on my new i3 that the factory wheel balance was off and this has, in part, contributed to freeway speed stability issues. I at first thought this was an alignment problem. Then I got to thinking of any other possible root causes. I had the wheels balanced at an America's Tire store and they were all out of balance. They removed the inboard hammered-on factory weights and went to stick on weights positioned for dynamically correct balance.

This change seemed to greatly impact stability positively - here is my theory on this. The narrow i3 wheels and tires have very little mass making for low unsprung weight. The slightest imbalance impacts the narrow tire footprint stability on the road surface and hence can create darting.

If you have not checked this yet you might want to.
