Do cars with the laserlight option look at different during the day with the daytime running lights on?

yes they do look different

the cars with LED headlights only have one LED strip (#1 in my photo)

the cars with laser headlights have the two LED strips (#1 and #2 in the photo)

Granted I did have the lighting package, I would expect the I8 to be just as good if not better. just wondering if anyone is experiencing the same. If anyone has opted for the new laser lights please feel free to comment if they're happy with it.
I got your wall post on the i8 tune. My PM's aren't working for some reason. Send me an email Ghetto2315@aol.com

I have a comment and a question:

1) There are no xenon headlights (at least not in 2015 version) so I am confused about the comment above with the LED strips in Xenon, I assume you mean the dual LED version?

2) Has ANYONE upgraded from the normal dual LED to the US version of the laser highbeams? Is it worth it?

I ask because I managed to not fully avoid a deer last night and need to replace one headlight. And I am considering maybe just springing for the upgrade IF the high beam is significantly better.

Thanks for the feedback.

Nice catch! i made a mistake saying "xenon" instead of "LED headlight"

Personally, I wouldn't upgrade the lights. I hardly notice the difference when the laser lights turn on compared to the standard highbeams. If I don't actually see them switch from standard highbeam to the laser lights, I can't tell the difference.

I'm curious if others in the US have the same opinion of the laser high beams.

They're honestly just more aesthetically cool looking than anything.

Plus, from what I've heard, upgrading the headlights to lasers is like 13k! No thanks

I was under the impression that VLD requires headlamps that can physically swivel.

There is a difference between:
  • I001 (i3) 5A2 LED Headlamps: Basic and cannot direct light beam
    • Incapable of VLD or NGHB
  • I012 (i8) 5A4 Led Headlights W.extended Features & I012 (i8) 5AZ Bmw Laser Light
    • Capable of VLD
BMW does not use a matrix like Mercedes, but there are optic micro shutters.
There are stepper motors (see PDF)

Thanks for posting the pdf. I was wondering what the difference was and how it worked. Much appreciated!
