Either light colors are fine , I think silver must be the best one to show different color combinations available with

I've had my car since November 2014. I ordered it when the i8 was first announced but didn't have to make a color decision until July. In May 2014 BMW began to run a convoy of 6 i8s from the Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica on a route through the Santa Monica Mountains and in front of my house. The i8s were all the silver color and bore Georgia license plates. I saw them every day for a month.
After watching them go by (and I once stopped one of the drivers to talk to him) I thought the silver color was a bit drab. I still do. So I ordered Protonic blue (I am partial to blue) but then got cold feet and changed it to the grey at the last minute. I regret my decision. I should have gotten blue. But the grey is, in my view, the second best color to show off the car's lines. The whites are too busy, the silver is drab, and the contrasting frozen blue accents are jarring.

I like the white with frozen gray. That's what I have coming. Not a fan of the blue accents, makes it too busy. Almost went protonic blue, but have had a couple blue ones, so went white. I call it the storm trooper look, as it's basically white with black accents. Like storm troopers from star wars

Protonic blue looks amazing in person, by far the most "look at me" of the 4. Trading in my 15 grey for a 16 protonic blue with lasers later this month. When I saw it in the sun- i was sold/immediately regretted picking up a sophisto grey i8.

Have you thought about doing a wrap on the car instead? How much extra did it end up running you to trade out and go into another lease? I think each color is great just depending on someones personal preference. I'm partial to Sophisto grey since that's the one I ended up ordering .

Otherwise, yes the hit would be a bit much going to a dealer directly. Keeping the 15 w/ good wrap is around 5K+ 16K to upgrade to the lasers (ridiculous if you ask me) so just doing the most cost effective way. I'm not one to bash really on any of the standard i8 colors. They're all honestly beautiful, and one has to try to really screw up the i8 with ridiculous wheels or way flamboyant wraps. So either way, stock- you can't go wrong with the 4

I went for white, with blue accents.
Reason :The white when polished, has a beautiful metallic finish to it. When stood in the sun, you really see the profile of the bodywork as the light bounces off it and shadows all the curves around the car. Personally, I love the blue accents, as they are the trade mark of the bmw i product, which I think should be highlighted, especially with the matching blue seatbelts too. Just my opinion of course....... |

I had Sophisto with blue accents but wrapped it matte grey with blue accents. Now I can't visit a gas station without someone trying to have a 25 minute conversation about the car. Shows off the lines beautifully though.

Protonic Red is very sharp. Too bad BMW USA didn't include all the red accents in the interior that the rest of the world got. But the red exterior really highlights the i8's lines.

Actually the new Protonic Red interior for USA is much better than the other idea they had. It's full leather, and its like a really nice dark grey/indigo looking color, also has carbon fiber accents in the interior. No cotton on the seats at all. I'm very happy with it.
