7 WEIRD THINGS About The BMW i8 You Probably Didn't Know
I made a little video about some weird things that I've come to realize over the course of the past year of i8 ownership.
Please feel free to share the video on your social media and let me know what you think! |

Some of these actually serve a good purpose, or are not problematic. So nice attempt, but comes across a bit naggingly... .
Many cars have fuel door operation with a button. The pressurized tank will keep the gas fresh if you drive electric for prolonged periods of time. I have yet to manage reaching the tank opening being still blocked if I pressed the button when getting out. The inside window separates noise and temp from trunk. The sills are excellent crash protection. The laser sign indicates you have laser light. If you find that deplorable, someone around here might be willing to trade you their standard LED lights. Am not sure I entirely understand the message you are trying to convey. |

Gas Cap - Functional, not unique. Laser Sticker - Functional/mandatory, could have explained you have the Laser Lights option. Rear Window - Functional (and those aren't venting into the engine bay...) Door Sills - Functional (and honestly not that bad...) Door Windows - It's a sacrifice... Passenger Vents - Really? Trunk Size - I mean it's a mid-engine sports coupe, and it works plenty well for me. Finding a random towel longer in one dimension doesn't help convey the message...

Also, the door windows segment is literally a complete carbon copy of Doug's segment on the same thing, haha... |

I think he was working pretty hard to get to 7 things. The way he gets into the car shows its pretty easy to get into, not much different than any sportscar.
I did however learn that the i8 failed the well known, and industry standard, microfiber towel trunk measuring test. |

The windows do not pose any problem at all with resting your arm on the window ledge. It's plenty wide enough. Secondly, who honestly needs to hand their arm out of the window when driving?
This isn't a valid complaint. |

Troll central
Repeating a few things here but just got around to watching this video...
2 windows? Didn't mention the rear window is expensive gorilla glass, very lightweight and stops heat and fumes getting into the cabin! Stop moaning, or buy a 3 series - they only have one rear window. Laser badges - regulation maybe? talk to the dicks who make up the rules, laser badges have strict rules governing what they look like. Stop moaning, or buy a 3 series. Door sills - Christ on a bike, lower sills means taller doors, means more space needed to open them. Would you rather have a taller door that can't open or a shorter door that can? They're cool as they are, did this bell-end not test drive the thing before spending $150k on one? Maybe a 3 series would be more fitting for this chap. Trunk - Jesus is still on his bike, put stuff on the back seats if you need to - or buy a 3 series. If you can afford an i8 and need to carry stuff, take your X5/Q7/F250/Cayenne/etc... Two air vents - yep, he's still on the bike. Point one at the door, one at your passenger? Or maybe just give your passenger a double dose or air? If there was only one vent, I'm sure it would also be a problem. Windows - here we go, windows that go all the way down would need taller doors that need more space! This boy needs a 3 series to hang his arm out of. Gas cap - not unique at all, press a button, get over it. I press mine on the way out of the cabin (while mountaineering over the sills), such a hardship I even have to do it sometimes twice a month. The fuckwit wanted to make a video of i8 problems and pretty much missed all of the real problems, does he really own one? Where I come from he'd be told to stop being a ponce and get on with driving a fantastic car that the vast majority of the population simply can't afford and will never drive, never mind own one.

Perhaps a little consideration for others is appropriate for the holiday season... Not all of us are brilliant successful experienced middle-aged folks. The OP is young and perhaps a touch on the autism spectrum. He seems genuine and well-meaning. Kindness and good humor make for a better bimmerpost.
