I8 Lease Assumption interest?
I'm debating a downsize, considering the sale of my lease, any interest in a mint-gray/black interior, 2015 I8? $5,500 down (obo, to offset my down payment, I do have two pending offers, but no official deposits yet.)
$1092.62/month. Lease expires March of 2018, 10k miles/year, comes out to around 833 miles a month, car currently has around 10k miles on her. Gives you just about a year to enjoy. You can buy extra miles from BMW for. .27/mile. This does NOT include tax, which may vary, based on your state. The car is a blast, 0-60 in the low 4s, but 65mpg on average! Location is SC, but happy to research shipping. Happy to send pics/info. Email me: newstvguy@gmail.com Thanks for looking! Also, a friend may also be selling his lease, very similar price, but 2 years left on the lease. Same color, except the blue accent stripe and slightly different wheels. Happy to pass your interest along, if you like. Last edited by IS350; 03-22-2017 at 08:53 PM.. |

I've heard that on certain years the new buyer must have it transferred into their name and pay a fee. Bmw FS couldn't answer this clearly so I would call your local dealer.

The legalese on the maintenance and transfer-ability can be found here:
http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...eoverride=true NON-TRANSFERABILITY These maintenance programs are available to the exclusive benefit of the initial purchaser, owner, or lessee of a new vehicle, sales demonstrator vehicle, Aftersales Mobility Program vehicle, or BMW Group company vehicle from an authorized BMW center in the United States (including Puerto Rico). Coverage is not transferable to subsequent purchasers, owners, or lessees. The sole exception to the non-transferability of coverage is that household transfers—transfers within the United States (including Puerto Rico) to members of the household of the initial purchaser, owner, or lessee of a BMW vehicle from an authorized BMW center—will not terminate coverage. Household transfers are limited solely to transfers to a current or former spouse or spousal equivalent, child, sibling, parent, grandparent, or grandchild from the initial purchaser, owner, or lessee of a vehicle. In the event of a household transfer, purchasers, owners, or lessees of a BMW vehicle should promptly advise their authorized BMW center to document and confirm the household transfer for purposes of coverage. The payoff of a loan on a vehicle by the initial purchaser and the purchase of a leased vehicle by the initial lessee are not considered transfers for purposes of coverage. That bold sentence is a confusing read so I would recommend confirming with BMW.

Just did some digging. It sounds like it may be up to the service department, on whether they catch the sale/lease assumption. Some people have had no problems with the maintenance roll over. Others have.
On paper it seems one needs to pay a refresh to get back the original maintenance package that was on the car, remember 2017 maintenance includes less than prior years. This refresh fee apparently varies by dealer, some are charging around $600 or so. |

Hi IS350. I will be doing a lease assumption, of I8 of same color as yours. Would you mind telling me how long it took for BMWFS to approve the transfer?
Thanks |

Congrats! Most lease transfers are initially approved within 3-5 business days, with full completion in 2 weeks or less. Be eager to hear your terms, if you're up for sharing? Did you also consider a new lease?
