i8 BMW Carbon Fiber Trim Pics
My i8 arrived yesterday and is in storage until early March
Took some pics to give you an idea of the look of the BMW CF Trim You feel the weave of the fabric not glossed over, looks more matt in real life Also UK Lasers don't appear to have the Laser warning triangle |

Congratulations on the arrival of your i8. Nice carbon fiber touch to your interior. Hope that will become an available accessory retrofit for the earlier models.

Now I'm just wondering how much it will cost me to retrofit the trim.

the term 4D and 5D is used by the manufacturer to show the difference in the carbon fiber wrap they come up with. Ofcourse the first gen was 1D and so forth. I have always had roofs on all my previous vehicles and I had 4D on my gtr and that thing look pretty darn to the real CF under the sun.

To be honest my issue is not really with the looks. It actually looks pretty bang on, almost fooled me the first time I saw it which surprised me considering for the past 7 years my cars have always had real CF interiors. My problem with this is that the material, in an attempt to look as realistic as possible, is very thick and it's a pain to work with on interiors according to everyone in the vehicle wrap business I've spoken to. It's not as flexible as a regular 3M or Avery vinyl and it doesn't adhere as strongly. To get around this they had to do some awkward cuts because of the amount of curves in the interior (this material is terrible at adhering to curves). The finished product came out impressively well given how hard to work with the material was but in the back of my mind it's still just a wrap and the material itself feels cheap to the touch which is why I want to replace it with the OEM Carbon trim. I'm just hoping they don't want both arms and legs for it.

Morning everyone,
I'm looking to get the trim on my i8 wrapped. Does anyone know how to take of the trim, specially the centre console? BMW are quoting me £250 just to remove the trim which seems obsurd. Please see the image attached for the parts I need removed. Any help will be much appreciated. |
