Swapping headlining, yay or nay?

My i8 has got the dark brown interior which i really like.

When new, i went back and forth with the factory to get the light beige roof lining but they could not do it with my spec. Had to be black.

The only reason for me wanting to swap is that the black headlining makes the interior feel smaller and a touch more clostrauphobic.

Especially more so now that i had the carbon fibre interior fitted.

I enquired with the dealer and the whole headlining plus labour and new sunvisors comes in at £1500.

What do we think? It would be obviously original parts and dealer fitted.

I believe that it would be the only i8 in the world with that config if i decided to take the jump..

Interested in seeing the result. Doesn't seem like the price is outrageous either. Do you know if they would be open to do an off catalog color or alcantara? I still don't understand why alcantara didn't make the cut for a roof liner in the i8, except maybe it wouldn't feet the "green and sustainable" agenda of BMWi.

No that would be purely a catalogue exercise. Been hard to organise in the first place.
They want the car two days as it is a lot of work and a delicate one at that.

In my previous cars, I made an upholsterer replaced the headlining ,changed the colors to black . I prefer alcantata but it's pricey more than standard black color cloth . Besides , the quote that your dealer gives you is decent

Usually the black headliner is on the premium/sport models for bmw. Was the same on my Maserati. But you should do whatever makes you happy. Life is short!
