i remote app discontinued

I got an email today saying that the BMW remote app would no longer be supported.

I then downloaded the BMW connected app. As far as the i's are concerned the BMW connected app is not as good as the i remote app. I liked having all the data that the i remote provided efficiency and the like. The only upside is you have the added function of unlocking the doors.

In short bring back the i remote app!

Yeah, I figured they meant all apps were migrating to this BMW connected. I had been having buggy issues with the i remote app. I then attributed it to the discontinued support to the app.

Hm, I hope not. I always assumed Connected replaces that one, but i Remote will be kept separate. Both serve good purposes...and both have been working pretty well for me.

I feel like having both is a little redundant but can you use them simultaneously? I wouldn't mind having both.

I do. I use Connected for navigation, and i Remote for everything else - it's more light weight imo.

Awesome! I'll have to see if I can get them both to work at the same time.

I've been using the new BMW Connected app since it came out. They've been constantly updating it, I think I stopped using the iRemote app probably 2-3 months ago. I mainly use the new app for the NAV thing, lock/unlock, and sometimes checking how much juice I have left.

Does the app allow you to set the charging times when to start and stop?

Yes all of the previous BMW apps are being migrated to the New Connected App. They are constantly adding new features to it with every update....so I am sure all of the pertinent info for i cars will be added back in...you can do everything as the i app...just looks a little different..all of the efficiency info panes are there and so is the ability of setting departure times.

You can certainly use both.
"Connected" is better at picking up phone's appointments and meetings' direction for the purpose of sending address to car's Nav system. Similar functionality is available across all of your cars registered (and paying for) BMW Telematics service (yes, you will need to pay after intro period is over).

Good info, but the comparison matrix is misleading as it omits all i-specific features present in "BMW i Remote" app that are missing from "Connected".
Specifically, all statistics on your last drip (consumption, distance, etc), as well as integration with your historical averages, as well as those of the rest of the BMW i-owners. Those are kinda cool.

It (preconditioning) works for me off both apps right now.
The last trip consumption values, and historical averages, are only accessible via the old I-remote app.

There was a week or so in December when i-Remote app stopped working, but it looks like Germans came back from vacation and fixed it.

I talked to BMW folks at CES, at length, and they have high hopes for their new app now that they had brought development in-house. The downside of that, unfortunately, is that the new app is bloated (got slower, takes longer to load), and has UI developed with all models in mind, no longer exclusive to the i-brand.

Integration with Amazon Alexa is gimmicky, yet a cute conversation piece whens friends come to visit.

Cool!

Yea tried it again, got into the car and was ice cold so maybe mine is busted and just needs to be reloaded who knows, guess I'll just delete them and use the one, trying to keep my apps to a minimum on the phone .

Hopefully they will eventually get the new app streamlined and quick.
