Thanks for sharing , that was what I needed to know for it . I found it very quirk not having a wireless or inductive charging for the LED key

I believe the newest i8 cars will have a built in "wireless dock" in the centre console. Not sure if any customers have these cars yet though.

Would be nice, but is not a big deal really. It's nice to be able to wirelessly charge the key at home. (Or in your car if you really must, by plugging in the charger in the car. I won't bother though.)

BMW UK event

A friend from the Lotus club went to a BMW event at Thruxton track this week, and I thought you might all be interested in his thoughts. Bear in mind he is a Lotus fan/owner.

They had the following BMWs to drive: M2, M3, M4, M5, M6 and i8.

His comments on the i8 were (verbatim):

Then there was the i8... I had no idea what to expect with this car, I'd never driven any kind of hybrid before. The i8 is stunning, the on track handling was superb, the (synthesized) soundtrack was entertaining and the torque... very addictive! If I was in a position to buy one I would take this over any 911 or any other exotica I have experienced to date. OK there is bugger all luggage space but who cares? It is stunning.

Wow! What a nice review. Not sure I agree with the i8 over ANY other exotic, but certainly over a 911 yes. The i8 is a great alternative to what's out there in this price range for sure.

To be fair, he did state it was any exotic HE had experienced

It was just really nice to read a Lotus fan's first experience in an i8 without any preconceptions, especially; because he loved it so much

Just read this post. I know it goes back a while, but only just spotted it.
I have had my i8 now for around 4 weeks, and I can honestly say, my thoughts on it mirror yours, word for word. ! In fact , I may copy and paste it someday, if someone asks me what I think of it !
I cannot compare to your comparison, as I have never had the pleasure of a Ferrari or the likes.
My previous cars have been the likes of RS4, C63 AMG, TTRS..... but nevertheless, the i8 is still a superb bit of kit for the money.
Like you, I went for white with blue accents. Enjoy ! I am !

At the end of this month I will have an i8 for three days and cannot wait to drive it to the coast line and around.

That's pretty sweet. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Extended test drives are pretty rare here in the U.S. I thought I had one lined up this month, but the dealer backed out at the last minute indicating that all his cars were spoken for. Still keeping my fingers crossed something will work out.

Talking Autocar i8 long-term test review: final report

It took them a year and 15k miles to work out what I said at the outset of this thread

Talking Leeds Castle last weekend

Hundreds of cars on display. Plenty of Ferrari, McLaren, Lambos. Only 1 i8

There was a "Need For Speed" run through the crowd (short narrow strip of road) for the supercars. i8 was invited too of course

Supercars roared through the crowd....so naturally, I did it silently in e-drive
