Stay running when out of car?
Whenever I try to get out and leave a passenger in the car for a few minutes it shuts down very quickly, Leaving them to roast (or freeze) with no air flow. Dealer says "they're all like this" but I can't believe it; how do you get the i8 to keep running when you're out of the car like any normal ICE car would? Thanks!

When the engine shuts down with the car in park and the switch still on just tap the gas pedal and the engine will start and stay running after you exit the car.

Yes. This is a very annoying behavior of the i8. When I stop at the top of my driveway to check the mail...I leave the car on, open the door, and hop out to grab the mail out of the mailbox—as I exit the car, the i8 turns "off", tells me the accessory are still running, and whole time the car is gonging at me.
The only way to "fake" the i8 into thinking you're still in the car — which allows the car to stay "on" when you're out — is by buckling the seatbelt behind you. Try it. It works. |

On E and F chassis cars, we could code the srs system to think there’s always someone occupying the seat
I would think we could do the same for the i8, but I don’t have experience coding these cars |
