The whole 110+ mpg think was silly anyway. All I know is that it's just as fast to 60 as the SLS and gets way more than twice the mpg. Also, their test car must not have been fitted with the extended fuel tank that comes standard in the US.

After the not so warm intro of the F8x wasn't JC and CH brought in on BMW payroll?
Also, I heard a rumour that BMW asked Toyota/Lexus to detune the RC-F as part of their hybrid/sports car dev effort. It was supposed to have 500hp and a tick more torque. Hey as long as those with the new F8x feel justified in their purchase. And just maybe JC had a change in heart. He is a grandpa now. |

The point is you won't get 28/34mpg on your M5 if you drive it like Jeremy did with the i8. I get 10-15mpg on my Lotus on track, yet can get over 35mpg on the motorway. Jeremy failed to state that a similarly performing sports car driven the way he drove, would have got about 20mpg, and perhaps less. But that does not make a good punchline to the story. |

A laptop M3 or an i8 An m3 of course! Topgear had to push the i8 from BMW! Clarkson a man who drives a tire smoking blackseries himself would choose an i8. Yeah that will be the day! I test drove an i8 it s a boring car. And for the money that car costs there are far better choices. |

Nice review...wished it had more m3 than the i8 or maybe he should have extended it and drove the m3 back along the same route and given us a comparison of both are driven back to back on the same route. One up and one back. But yes great European auto journalism and classic Clarkson. He didn't have much to say negative which means in Clarkston vocabulary and patterns both BMWs are very very good. In fact I do recall him saying on the M3 if you've got the cash...buy one! Can't get any better than that....hell I did! (Bought one I mean...b4 this review last week!). Lol.

Well first of all Love TG and the boys- so many good things about the show (the silly driving weird shit through lakes and stuff doesn't do it for me but... there is a ministry of silly walks there so I guess its OK).
As far as these two cars go- I understand he was making a point and one day the tech of the i8 and others will come to amazing fruition and we will get 100+ mpg and 0-60 in 3 seconds- just a matter of time. HOWEVER in this case the M3 all day, long no questions asked. Watch the video again on how you have to get in and out of this thing- ass first - the seat is like in 10" from the frame runner- so getting in and out is a bitch. And your hot date- all tarted up since you can you can afford a 125k (USD) car will never get in this thing and once in she aint getting out- at least not elegantly - without having to contort and show some Vajay to the paparazzi. The M3 looks better, drives better, and for all that money the i8 STILL would have the half ass nav system that screws up your most basic voice commands. Ill take the M3 in Estoril Blue also- no changes needed. |
