reading all these reviews gives a great impression of this little bimmer
and come one, Electric Seats are not a deal breaker if you think it's a way to save extra weight on a tiny electric car...!

In the middle of the 20th century, most locomotives were steam powered. Then, along came diesel. Diesel locomotives didn't immediately outperform their steam powered cousins either, but some railroads were forward thinking and invested in diesel technology. Diesel quickly advanced to outperform steam, and railroad operators who didn't invest early found themselves scrambling to adapt. Obviously there are huge differences between the transition from steam to diesel and petrol to battery-electric, but we are in the very early days of this transition. Someone has to build and sell the first electric vehicles, even if they aren't wholly better than their petrol and diesel counterparts. It's like Walter Gretzky said, "Skate where the puck's going, not where it's been."

Purists and enthusiasts aside, most of the american market wants big, fat, luxury cars with heated seats and rear window power sun shades. |

I'm curious about the REX version. It has the 2.3 gallon tank, the recent articles and marketing I've read so far seems to indicate at least in the US is that it complies with a the HOV lane loophole in California (you can google that). Range of 160-180 miles, a little disappointed with that. For the other states in the US, I would definitely love to have an option to have a larger fuel tank, so that it can have a longer range. Lets say 200+ miles. I hope BMW would consider this.

FWIW, most experts recommend stopping every two hours to stretch and get the kinks out - helps with maintaining attention and alertness. Guess, if you were driving this thing longer distances where the range extender was a factor, you'd plan that at a fuel stop.

The i3 is a shaping up to be an incredible car when evaluated in the context of what it's meant for: city driving. Trying to stretch it in to a role that it wasn't intended for is only going to make it look bad.
