Looks nice! Not that I would buy one but wouldn't mind seeing that on the road

A great body can sometimes make up for a less than eye catching face in humans. Not so with cars, especially this one with its minivan looks, but I'll grant that it's less ugly, but it's still ugly.

If you think about it, it's not so strange. Most of the people on the forum are car enthusiasts who prefer performance oriented cars. So most prob. aren't gonna be too big on the idea of an eco friendly ice cube. In general people who purchase eco cars will not modify them. That goes completely against the point of buying one.

wow.. thanks everyone for the comments, both positive and negative. Didn't know i'd get so much of a reaction. Just did this up for the fun of it. Cos i thought it would be fun to see what an EV could maybe look like. Maybe i should slap on some Mugen stickers though.

Interesting idea. An electric car with a limited drive range puts a whole new spin in the concept of racing. What kind of race have you in mind?

  • Race to see whose battery lasts longest?
  • Race to see whose dies first?
  • One lap race -- you start, finish, and then you race to see who makes it back home before the battery dies?
Yes, my ideas are a bit on the cynical/sarcastic side, but racing with electric cars is one sure way to spur innovation in terms of exacting the most from a battery. The idea of racing electrics is indeed novel. Not so sure about practical, but it's novel.

FWIW, I watched Top Gear last evening and saw that MB has an electric supercar -- SLS Black something or other I think is what it's called, although the car was very neon green. It didn't outperform its petrol sibling on the track but it blew the doors off it in the straight away. Clarkson had no problem seeing the thing as a race car. He also observed that nearly half the battery was gone in just six minutes.

Racing is a great way to raise the profile of electric cars and to further the technology. I agree right now it probably wouldn't really be that long of a race but they could strip the car and fit longer range batteries and do a car swap like they are doing with the new formula-e. Would be something different and I reckon could be interesting for an electric racing series. At the end of the day the less people there are filling up with gas/petrol the longer we get to enjoy our own cars. Anyhoo, still think the i3 posted by the OP is pretty cool.

I agree in terms of the concept and its execution. I'm not at all keen on the look of the outcome, but then look what he has to start with....it's not his fault by any means. I'd give him props for trying to make an unattractive car somewhat more attractive.
