The interview features alternating German and English portions.

Nerdgasmic! Love these behind the scenes engineering vids. This car is more intriguing to me than the M3/4. Thanks Jason, keep the i8 content coming.

You can Look at the BMW i8 as a what if?

What if future legislation destroyed the sports car as we know it?
A car like the i8 would be the next logical step to find a solution in order to stay on the road. Sustainability in a Sports car has never been heard of before but we are in a new world where sustainability in a sports car is becoming a priority.

Perhaps in a dystopian future the people will be driving i8s and craving Soylent Green.

BMWi and BMW M are sandwiched between BMW but you will not see an M i8 crossover between the brands. But you will see application of BMWi tech such as CFRP applied in BMW M and BMW models and Rolls-Royce.

Trust me... I am.

What if it had an S54, S65, or S85 in the middle?
What if it had a manual transmission?
What if it weighed 300lbs lighter?

Oh my god, could you please move on? It won't happen.

Scott has said it a gazillion times, the i8 will just be the i8. And as he said earlier, I bet BMW will use the tech of the i8 to build awesome cars, and maybe a sports car (I'm still waiting the BMW M car), and with the tech of the i8 they will make money, something that VW, Audi or MB aren't.
