I think it's overly idiotic to change the iconic double round head lamps. I thought i8 was going to have double round head lamps unlike i3, maybe they will be there within or maybe they changed the design at the last minute, because concept i8's thus far had double round head lamps.

It's cool to have BMW i's own design and different taste and touch and the geniuses at BMW decided to keep the kidney grills but not the double round head lamps?

Historically speaking kidney grill and hofmeister kink are older design features on BMW's but I think double round head lamps are way more recognizable as BMW design today (emphasis on today).

Usually I agree with BMW's decisions but I really don't understand how the decision to leave out double round head lamps (in i3 for sure, not sure yet for i8) went from designers to Habib to Van Hooydonk to executives to the board . Maybe they just sign documents without reviewing at all.

Beauty - is in the eye of the beholder
Innovation - electric cars have been around before this one
And more - expensive...way more expensive
Sheer driving pleasure - remains to be seen considering what they have been coming up with recently

Tesla doesn't have any competitor for BMW either.

The first one to come out with an affordable full electric sports car with a 300 mile range gets my money.

How can you compare the i8 with the current Tesla? They are 2 absolutely different type of cars.
And i think the Tesla is a bit quicker than the i8 lol.

The i8 it's a huge waste of a wonderful cfrp body, with a V8 in the rear it could have been a perfect car

I hope the i8 retained the double round head lamps within the LED lights in the teaser video. But regardless, i3 doesn't have them for sure. I think it's a gigantic mistake.
When you ask peope that aren't necessarily into cars like us, what design feature defines a BMW? I guarantee you 9 out of 10 people say double round head lamps instead of kidney grills

cheers!

Agreed. While the concept colors and styling look great, seeing the car in a solid color completely changes things.

I have a feeling this will come with a 6 figure price tag and lackluster performance numbers. If I'm going to spend that kind of money on a car I demand performance...

A car that looks like that should do 0-60 in at least 4 seconds and 12 something in the quarter, and I highly doubt that will be achieved.

Fear not. It will most likely make up for it with fake engine/exhaust sounds through the speakers so you don't feel so bad about spending 6 figures.

but you will be able to get the modern line, the luxury line, the sport line, the m-sport line. and then pay more for leather and the option for xenon headlights and another 1k for LED, and then another 2k for navigation, and another 5k for B&O... lol that 6 figures just went up another 30k.. oh and all to drive 30miles on electric.
