iX Windshield Looks Brown?

Is this normal? Looks like a layer of very light brown tint.

Same. The windshield does appear to be very slightly tinted though (not completely clear), at least more than other BMWs I've owned. Hard to tell the actual tint though, it does look almost like an amber/gray tone (possibly UV protection?).

That "tint" is the IR coating for your front windshield. Make sure to place any EZ pass into the area with the dots, as it won't read through the IR coating.

And it does say, right in the Standard Features, "Infrared windshield." Doh.

cool I guess we don't need to apply additional IR blocking tint to the windshield then.

2024 iX xdrive50 Windshield difficult to see through in snow and fog conditions

We recently had snow in our area of Central Oregon and I found the windshield very difficult to see through. The difference looking forward through the winshield and to the side through one of the door windows is profound. Looking through the windshield, there is a lack of definition or contrast in the road, objects and autos in front of you are not clear compared to looking through the side windows. It was not actually snowing at the time but merely had powder type snow kicked up by traffic. My wife and I were very unformfortable at the time. I also had a similar experience driving in fog where there was a lack of definition in objects and road lines as viewed through the windshield. In both cases the windshield was perfectly clean. I next drove behind my wife and could clearly see a brown tint in the window as viewed from behind compared to the surroundings. We also did a video showing what was going on we plan to send to BMW for comment. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Not at all. The wipers could definitely use some improvement but no other problems with forward visibility in snow or fog here in WA State. The sun is low this time of year and that will have an impact as well but that's not an issue with the IR coating.

the windshield definitely has a hint of gold/brown tint to it, Not colorless. My interior is moca and with that I find the color combination when someone is observing the cabin from the front of the car is ideal!
The visibility from inside the cabin to outside is great, detail definition, contrast, brightness-wise. I never felt the windshield has hampered the view in any perceivable way.

Yes it almost looks like a blue light filter.

No problem here either - low sun, rain, fog, or snow. The tint is barely noticeable and doesn't affect visibility in the slightest.

LOVE the IR glass on the iX. I am bummed, especially for the price, the i5 does not have IR glass! Granted, the windscreen is smaller than the iX, but in high heat...the iX front glass is amazing.

There is a "tint" to the iX, but it never impeded my visibility ever!

Ours has a bluish tint, so much so that my professional window tinter with decades of that profession said he had never seen a factory windshield that had “so much of a blue tint to it.”

For me, it is clear, free of distortion, and easy to see out of whether sunny, partially cloudy, fully cloudy or at night. I truly have no concerns, no issues with it.

Is part of its bluish appearance that it is picking up the iX’s Phytonic Blue surrounding it?

Yes, she loves it. Here’s a side shot a few minutes later thought as a few days later with full front door window glass tinting identical to the OEM tinting added, now no longer would be visible (though we left the windshield untouched).
