BMW i8 and i3 at Vancouver Auto Show [PICS]

I was at the Media preview yesterday morning for the Vancouver Auto Show. I managed to snap a few pics of the i3 and the i8 while the show floor was clear. Here they are below!

I love the butterfly doors on the i8 and the exposed carbon fiber visible in the construction. The blue highlights were a bit distracting for me but I can see how they emphasize certain elements in the design. The i3 is very interesting to look at as well and while it's pricey for a city car at 51k as equipped in Canada, it doesn't seem so bad when you consider the technology, especially the wicked carbon fiber construction.

Nice shots thanks for posting!

Technically they're butterfly doors, I think.

Gullwing are straight up from a hinge in the middle of the roof, a la SLS AMG.

And if you really want to get technical, they're dihedral doors. No matter what one calls them, they certainly make a dramatic statement for the i8.

I've been practicing my pole vaults so I could just launch myself and land right in the car. Still working out the details on how getting out would work with this method, though.

Where would you store the pole needed for your return trip?

Thanks David. I looked at the Motorcycle album you have in your signature... some really nice shots of the 899 Panigale, a bike I've been eyeing.

This shot.

Thanks, I appreciate you checking out my photos and the compliment! I really like that shot also, out of all the ones from that day.

If you clicked the Motorcycles and DLSR's link only, you would have missed this shot of the 899 in Miami, since I haven't updated that collection with my latest. This one has been real popular. I think you might like it also

I have a bunch of shots I did of the i8 in December up as well. Can't wait to do a proper photoshoot with an i8 at a badass location!

Thanks for sharing those nice photos. I was there today and the i8 really is something very interesting. I never like it too much until now that I see it in person. Looking at the price at our gas pumps, these hybrid sports cars are starting to make more and more sense.

Absolutely. I love that the i8 takes on dual role of supercar as well as frugal city cruiser.
