At the risk of sounding pedantic, there's been one "customer delivery"...in Dubai.
Yes the first "one", a customer delivery in Dubai posted here a week ago, also M3/4's arriving at dealerships, many others very close to taking deliveries....how many tests/reviews? ZERO. You keep missing the point I'm making.

More reviews

Seems to be a fantastic car that will be improved/perfected with software updates...

According to Driving.ca, the car returned a fuel economy figure of 46.4 mpg during their spirited test drive, very impressive!

Yeah I agree that is the consensus. The software must be insane in this car. Btw the carsguide.com.au review is the exact same review as the Motor Authority one; apparently they are sister companies.

Check out this positive and realistic review. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/bmw/i8/...i8-2014-review
The autocar guy is silly one. He thinks every car should be a P1.

Another review but not very good. Just a regurgitation of the press release. I don't think they drove the car.

Hoping for more driving reviews from the big guys (and we will have more tomorrow just don't know from whom)

Maybe they had too much fun driving the i8 to notice it?

That or they copy/pasted the boilerplate from an 80's BMW review

Clarification: At one time, BMW didn't provide cup-holders in their cars (as was common in many German makes), and foreign reviewers frequently complained about this fact.

I was interested in some of the nice touches and the full leather with the Pure Impulse, the interior ambiance lighting package, leather engine cover, embossed i8 in headrests, and other similar details. Will that all be standard on the US i8, or it will be part of the top package? Will be interesting to see.
Upon re-reading the global press release, I found this note in rather small font at the bottom of the first page:

"Note: The equipment described refers to the specification for the German market."
At least that gives us some hope that what we've heard about the U.S. cars being fully equipped may still be true.

LOL. Well, it takes a village, and it's fun to share nuggets of information with other enthusiasts. Frankly, I think we could do a better job of launching the i8 than BMW is doing (which may be exactly what they intended).

Another UK review from The Telegraph:

I'm guessing the American mags are having their turn tomorrow

Beside Road and Track, I haven't seen anything yet from MotorTrend or Car & Driver...

What, a half-second throttle lag?? If it's anything like you experience in the i3 at low speed then that alone is a dealbreaker.

It's unclear what he's talking about.

Many of the reviews expressed concern over a throttle delay in 2nd gear corners when acceleration is needed due to software deciding how/where to put the power down.

One other review also mentioned that if one wheel goes off the ground, the car will halt power to stop free spin to prevent damage to the systems. I believe that only refers to the front axle, but am not sure entirely. The press release didn't talk about this function.

In both cases, it was stated that BMW is still tweaking all of this software and will continue to do so even after deliveries begin.

For the early adopters, these quirks will be something to live with and workaround, as BMW continues to improve the software that controls the i8 drivetrain.

In other words, I don't think it's an insurmountable issue that should be a deal breaker.

Another review from The Auto Channel, with video containing lots of i8s at the media launch...

All of the info is starting to look the same to me after these last few days, so I apologize if some other site has this same exact review and it's been posted already; however the video has footage I haven't seen yet.

(Edit: I realized I posted another The Auto Channel review earlier, this is actually more of an article than a drive review, but it's interesting with talks about the original concept and designers to the current stage of the i8. Due to Bimmerpost censoring the website for some reason, you have to cut and paste the below link to a browser and remove spaces in the website name.)
