If you scroll back far enough, I posted some pictures of some stock photos from the other regions. I see a lot of people put them on perfectly straight, but they should be at a slight angle just like the doorhandles. Note these things are super sticky, so once you put them on, they aren’t coming off without a heat gun and some fishing line.

You also can't "tweak the angle" once it's flat down. It's there to stay until you remove it, and you'll need another one if you do. Use something like the laser mentioned, or painter's tape to align the bottom, and measure twice. Or thrice.

I used an early version of this, and it helped, but mainly to level the strip of painters' tape on the fender.

The M60 is actually one of the only cars from BMW in which I actually like the 'M' badges on the side. Most people here in Europe actually delete 'option' them here.
Glad mine had them. |

It only seems to be the United States that has them deleted by default. They don’t do that in Canada.

Yeah, this was the case back in 2016 too when i got my X4 M40i too. Must just be a choice made by BMWNA to help differentiate the M models from the Msport and others, whereas BMW Canada and other country/region specific offices chose differently.

Note they are slightly angled if you want them to look right. Follow the angle of the front and rear door handles with a laser level if you have one.

Thanks. I do have a laser level and saw the information on how that should be done in the post. Terrific help, thanks again. My badges shipped today from CA to my home in NH. 👍

Do you know if you can undelete them when you order? The M version is not that much different from the regular car, and without badges even less so. For the extra 10-15K I'm paying for M60, I want my badges installed in Germany! 😈

You certainly couldn't "undelete" the fender badges for the M Sport package on an X5, at least in 2018, built right here in the US, because I tried. I'll be interested to hear of anyone's success on the forum in ordering a US-bound M60 with them....

It can’t be done on a US-ordered vehicle…. Same thing on the brand new i5 M60. I don’t know who’s making these decisions at BMW, but it makes no sense to me. Even Canada gets them.

My thought, and it probably costs BMW 10 cents a badge to add them at the factory....

I wonder if anyone with an M60 car outside of the US will be kind enough to measure the badge location? There's been a lot of (well-informed) speculation on this thread how to attach them, but exact millimeter-level measurements from somebody in another region will be much easier to follow, and no laser level required to apply.
I'll also try asking my sales rep to delete the deletion from my order. Understand that's a very long shot, so will also plan to get the badges and apply them as soon as my order arrives. |

The first post has measurements (in mm) about where the badges should go, and that's likely as precise as you're going to get visually. You'll still need a level or something to align the badges with in relation to the door handles, because that's their alignment installed OEM. It's not really that difficult, but probably the best method is using painter's tape to align the base and sides of the badge in the location you intend to put it. Positioning is key, because once the back of the badge touches the car, that's where it's going to be. Best to measure multiple times, and triple-quadruple check. Your dealer should be able to install them, but they're unlikely to be as particular as you.

Great post! Thanks for sharing. Am thinking of changing the iX emblem from chrome to bronze so as to match the sports package. I wonder if the placement is the same or slightly different if it’s bronze. Any M60 owner care to share the placement details? Thanks so much!
