Door hinges yearly?
I got my first notification for the yearly maintenance and alongside the usual suspects (oil, spark plugs and ac micro filter) it said I should change the door hinges.
I drive it daily but can't tell much of a difference since I bought it in December with respect to the doors. Are the door hinges really necessary to be replaced yearly or it is just a cash grab? |

I think if you check the maintenance schedule in your owners manual BMW recommends replacing the gas springs that hold the door open every few years and check the tightness of the door hinge mounting bolts. Nothing about replacement of the hinges.

My local dealer claimed that they are not covered under warranty because they are normal wear and tear items. I asked them how much to change the door struts and they quoted me $1000, and that was a couple of years ago. It’s no wonder they’re called stealerships. I bought my own for $200 and will do it myself. It’s not that hard.

just had my 2 year service in Australia, and they were replaced under warranty as part of the service (5 year BMW Service Included package).
