Bought an i3 REx Yesterday - Here's My Deal

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Bought an i3 from Greg Poland at Pacific BMW yesterday. Fantastic to work with. Highly recommend. Picked up a white fully loaded REx. Going to use this as a daily commuter vehicle (28 mile round trip). So far I like it a lot. Here's the deal I got for those shopping:

2015 BMW i3 with Range Extender
  • Tera World
  • Parking Assistant Package
  • Sport 20" BMW i Light Alloy Double Spoke wheels style 430 w/mixed tires
  • Technology + Driving Assistant Package
  • harman/kardon Premium Sound System

MSRP: $55,345
Purchase Price: $49,580
BMW Charging Station Credit: $1000 (Aug 2015)
BMWNA Incentive: $7500 (Aug 2015)
Ultimate Drive Experience Incentive: $1000

Lease: 24/mo 10k Year
Residual: 63%
Money Factor: 0.0081
Down: $0
Total Drive Off: $5,116
  • 7 MDS: $2450 (Refundable)
  • CA Registration Fee: $101
  • CA License Fee: $322
  • Sales / Use Fee: $90.45
  • BMWFS Acquisition Fee: $925
  • Electronic Title Fee: $26
  • Sales Tax on Cap Reduction: $765.03
  • Doc Fee: $80
  • CA Tire Fee: $7

Base Payment: $320.37
Tax: $28.83 (Los Angeles 9%)
Total: $349.20/mo

I kind of screwed up because I realized after signing I could have added another $1000 incentive through USAA. I'm very happy with the deal though I'll will be getting the $500 rebate through BMWCCA and buying the Level 2 charger and shopping for the i3 accessories next.

Awesome deal! Don't feel too bad, USAA would only be 500$ off lease ($1000 for purchase). Plus, Im not sure if you can combine CCA with USAA. Congrats!

Ahh. Yeah you can't combine both CCA and USAA so if it was only $500 for lease then it was the same discount. That makes me feel better

I'd suggest calling Greg Poland and asking him about the Option Credit of $1000 available for 2015 i3s, which can be used for the purchase of a BMW Home Charging Station.

I spoke with him and it turns out I did get this credit after all.

Would it have come out different if you did 30 months to get the CA $2500 credit?

Yes I had him run the 30 month option. The residual was a big drop going from 24 to 30. I believe it was 58% opposed to 63%. So the payment jumpted up $48/mo. It worked out to about 1150 more in lease payments to get the 2500 tax credit. Not being sure if I could even use the credit or not I opted for the lower payment instead at 24/mo.

I'm looking to lease i3 as well.

Is your purchase price includes all the credit and incentives? Or this is before all credits?

Is MF you listed after the MSD? I think base MF is .00130.

I tried to enter your numbers in leasematic app and I'm getting $285.76 pm.

The base MF is 0.00130 for non Euro Delivery. With 7 MSD the MF is 0.00081. This is standard rate for most BMW's through BMWFS.

$8500 of the incentives reduce the negotiated price. While the $1000 charger credit can be applied to a charger or used as build-out cash which reduced the original invoice. Initially I didn't understand this either but when I double checked the numbers it makes sense. If you run the invoice pricing on this car you'll see the $49,580.00 negotiated price is much lower than dealer invoice. So that $1000 went to selling the car under invoice.

Leaseomatic is great but its hard to see exactly what its calculating sometimes. I've seen some pretty wacky numbers sometimes just by place a tax or fee in the wrong spot. I have an Excel sheet I like and for me its a lot easier to follow the nunbers because I can see exactly what calculations it's doing. The numbers add up to me. See attached and see if you can plug these numbers into Leaseomatic.

You can see dealer invoice should have been $50,920 and I got the car at $49,580. Thats where the $1000 charger credit was applied. The one number I couldn't figure out is where the dealer was making any money. Thats normally a pretty bad sign but looking at the numbers I really couldn't complain at all. Clearly they were happy with the deal and I certainly was.

Timefor,

i'm assuming your total drive off of $5,116 is including the 7 MSD of $2,450? or the $2,450 is on top of $5,116?

Btw I contacted Greg today to give me pricing on i3 Rex. Will update you later on the deal.

$5,116 was total drive-off that included the 7 MSD of $2450. So the remainder of $2666 was First Month + Bank Fee + 9% Incentive Taxes + Title + Doc + CA Tire.

I'd really consider if you need the REx. That's kind of the only thing I would change if buying again. I thought I'd need it but I haven't used gas once and I don't even have a 240v charger installed yet. Without the gas engine you save $3800, get $1000 BMWCCA Rebate instead of $500, White CA Stickers, and an extra 20 miles on battery. I have no complaints with the car but I know now I could do without the REx. But then again, I do have another vehicle if I really need to go far.

Greg Poland at Pacific is nails. I bought my 2011 M3 sedan euro delivery from him. Great guy. Everything that was discussed in email was what happened. Zero surprises. Highly recommend!

Nice deal! Leasematic numbers matched: I tried to make the summary screen as much detailed as possible to see what's going on : )

Anytime! That $855.45 is only for tax on rebate, acquisition fee and doc fee: (8500 + 925 + 80) * 0.09 = $855.45.
Tax on monthly payment is due monthly 61.52 per month. There are some States including mine (NJ, NY, OH) etc that collect the tax for the entire term upfront.

Great app by the way. I've used it several times just running quick numbers while talking through the showroom.
