I have trouble getting excited about this car. I suppose it combines outstanding efficiency with very good acceleration, but my feeling is "very good" in this price range is not good enough. Also, the tires are too slanted towards efficiency.

Again, the design style of the i8 is not something I am interested in, nor would consider spending money on. Even if all the engineering is there, the car looks impractical & too goofy to own. Good luck BMW on that styling... |

Electric motor + turbo motor makes a lot of sense from a thrust perspective.
Batteries although heavy, do allow you to bring the cog very low and distribute weight evenly almost like a ballast does only in a fixed configuration. This may sound crazy but my Prius is fast from 0-10 because of the instant torque. It also handles way better than expected because of the strangely low cog. I think the i8 could actually deliver a driving experience that is unexpected and positive. |

BUT sometimes people miss the point of the i series. While performance is always a focus for all models, it isn't the #1 priority. I remember BMW saying that there are no plans to build any M versions. The i series is about technology and efficiency. I am no fan of hybrid or electric cars, but building those will allow us to keep big power performance cars. I think the i8 will be plenty fast and will hopefully be a fun car to drive. Price is definitely too high, but i guess that tech is still expensive. |

Dear BMW,
Start listening to your customers. We want this, not the i8 as you've introduced it. The i3 is understandable, but the i8 is a miss. Produce this to compete with the R8 and 911 GT3/Turbo. Love, The World

I think you guy who dont like it are holding on to what you know, rather than having an open mind. This is a different vehicle than any other vehicle out there. Stop looking for than rawness or a modern day super sports car.
With that being said, I do agree than the wheels are too narrow and think a wider wheels would carry it off better...but dont many of us change wheels anyway? This car will be a winner. |
