TuxMats
These just became available for the iX:
https://www.tuxmat.ca/ Anyone have any real-world experience? They look nice and have better coverage than most I've seen, but my concern would be with cleaning and maintenance on what seems to be a fabric surface.... |

I do not have the floor mats but do have the trunk mat from tuxmat. The material is not fabric, it cleans easily. It is similar to other mats of this style as it is a rubberized mat but this one is textured and somewhat cushioned (at least the trunk mat is). It is not the hard rubber/plastic feel of say the weather tech design.
I too was on the notification list and was waiting but was worried it would have been months before these were ready. I ordered the Maxspider ones but will be returning them when these arrive. These are much highly quality than any other floor mat I have tried in the past. Also, I too like the additional coverage these provide. Let me know if you have any other questions. Protip: search for tuxmat coupon codes. Last edited by TheD2; 02-27-2023 at 11:43 AM.. |

Considered the cargo mat as well, but from photos it seems to cover up the side-mounted tie-down rings, which makes no sense in the design. Maybe photo is deceptive....

The BMW cargo mat is the best one I have seen so far. It has a crease to fold back to access the storage area underneath it. Love mine.

The tuxmat trunk mat does not completely cover the tie downs if you lift them up first but the sides are high. And as virtualguitars stated, nothing beats the foldable BMW OEM trunk mat. Tuxmat does not fold easily.

I placed an order for the front and rear as I really like how the tuxmats look. My OEM cargo mat from my 2021 X5 fit perfectly in the iX cargo so I kept it when tradining in X5

Arrived and installed! MUCH better coverage than the OEM mats, well designed and constructed. Not as heavy-duty as the BMW mats, and I'm not a fan of the fabric sewn edges, but overall nice quality mats, and a bargain at the price.

They do look great; however, I’m not a fan of how they didn’t connect the two front ones together. If your drink spills out of the cupholder, it’s going to land right between the two mats which defeats the entire purpose of having them. Of course, it’s better than the OEM mats or the BMW weather mats that I have.

Re-the cupholder, there's a 50-50 chance it will land on either side on the mat . They really are an improvement on coverage:
I particularly like that they cover the dead pedal and the area directly beneath the rear seats, as well as the center of the back floor. Again the down side to me is the fabric edging, and the fact that if you use clips (they supply a generous amount), when you remove the mats you have to remove the clips and every time you do that you wear the edging a little more (the clips do provide a closer fit and ensure NO movement). Long term wear remains to be seen, but definitely more complex cleaning that the OEM, which you just rip out, wash off and replace. I like them, but guarded optimism on winter mud and snow. |

Paladin1 - did you treat yours with something before installing? They look shinier than mine do. And for those considering - I have also installed and would echo everything said previously. The coverage is great but will definitely be more work to remove from the vehicle if you're using the clips. I'd already managed to get some salt on the carpet around the OEM rubber mats which should not happen on these. And they look more premium compared to the WeatherTech mats - which I am also a big fan of (in previous cars) but wanted something more refined in my M60.

Like the hot sauce commercial, "I put that sh*t on everything!" It's a great UV protectant (similar to Armor All, but not as slippery), and works especially well for exterior plastics/rubber (and Sensatec), and makes subsequent cleaning easier. I don't generally use it for rubber floor mats though, just because it's a little slippery. In this case, because of the "fabric" finish, I gave it a try and it worked well. For the standard BMW AW mats (or any other hard rubber mats, throttle and brake pedals), I've used this from WeatherTech, and it's great (provides a non-slippery matte finish, but can be slightly tacky to touch for awhile): Last edited by Paladin1; 03-06-2023 at 10:45 AM.. |
