Sure not, but it's great that i8 is still compared with true supercars in complexity, appearence and technical refinement.

What do you expect? The petrol engine in it is a small terrible engine? If you floor it (like most CA drivers do between traffic lights) there is no efficiency whatsoever. If it was a torque diesel then maybe...

did you read all of the threads i was quoting and the explanation i was talking about? i suspect it didn't get less than 6mpg because the actual test was the m3 following the prius at its pace and having better mileage than it. and therefore the m3 is not driving its pants off, and therefore not getting down to 6mpg.....

I think people have a hard time grasping the fact that most people that buy $100,000+ cars don't ever even think of taking their car to the track, no matter what the car is actually capable of or "meant" to do.

I don't know, lots of 911 guys seem to track their cars. One day I will take the X6M, too, because it would be ridiculous yet fun as hell. Besides, what would everyone who loves to compete in armchair racing do if magazines didn't come out with these comparos? |

It's not right to expect the i8 to have LaFerrari or P1 performance at 1/5 or less of the cost. |

Gas>Electric
Or 6-cylinder>3 How is this a surprise? Can't wait for the Porsche 911 electric hybrid to give the i8 some real competition....

Haha.
I've actually done what that X5M did, on my racebike, first on a warm-up lap, then on the first lap of a race, both times in the same turn (3) at Willow Springs! Didn't get a black flag but the announcer said something to the tune of, "looks like #632 really likes the dirt near Turn 3!" Except since I was on two wheels and one-wheel drive it set me back rather than ahead of others! |

I like taking my cars to the track and I guess I need to keep the M3 for that. I am excited about the i8 and am on the list at my dealer but I will end to drive it extensively first before I put down 135K.....looks are not everything. Time will tell but most reviews seem to be rather positive.
