2017 i3 rex lease, good deal?

I usually own my cars. This is the first time Im considering leasing. Is this a good deal. 24mo, 15k miles, $250/month, $5000 downpayment. Would I be able to get any discount for the MSRP? Thanks.

Basing my input on a lot assumptions like msrp, selling price, money factor, sales tax, rebates etc... the selling price would have to be around 10% off the sticker. Not a bad start. You should explore what the 5000 down would look like applied through multiple security deposits [msd's] before you unnecessarily tie up that much cash. Inherently money down on a lease, in my opinion, is a waste. Since you're relatively new to leasing, I don't know if you considered that the 5k down would be long gone , in the even if a collision and total loss.

We just ordered and leased a 2017 I3 BEV. Never leased a car before so we feel we have a fair deal that meets our requirements. 3300 off for multi BMW ownership, the 7500 federal rebate, 36 month, 12000mi/year and 1000 down payment. 550/mo. We tried to put more money down but the sales manager said, keep your cash. We initially told him we have no plans of buying the car at the end of the lease because I don't want to own this technology as it is evolving so quickly. We may have gotten screwed to the wall and don't know it but we are comfortable with the deal.

Just leased one yesterday. 2017 w/range extender. Only option was 20" wheels and sticker price was $51,245. I put down $4k and my payments are $350 per month which includes sales tax. This is for a 30 month lease.

Does it really make a difference if you put more down payment now vs less? If your monthly is higher and you put less down it ends up catching up. I read a lot of people say dont put too much down but my monthly would be higher than what Id want to pay.

I see what you mean in terms of 5k down now vs the 5k spread out across 24 months. It would probably work out to a ~40.00 dollar savings each month. That being said 10 days into your lease you could potentially have a total loss in which case your 5k is out the window. If you're a positive kind of person, this wouldn't bother you. If you're a cautious person then this may be a concern

5k downpayment vs 5k spread out across 24 months should equate to about $25 when tax is in the calculation. I would also agree with DRTMGRT and say you should never put money down on lease. Put that cash as MSD instead.

OP, not sure where you live, but to get to the numbers you are seeing, you are getting about 7% off MSRP. Some are lucky getting about 10% off MSRP and higher for dealers that need to meet their quota for the year, but for a '17, your numbers sound pretty fair.

This car at the ludicrous deals that were available on '16 models made sense, these 17s, however, don't seem to make much sense to me to lease... Some people here are paying near 5 series monthly payments for a car that is going to depreciate faster than a ferrari that has caught fire. I just don't get it.

@sliu33 , do check if you will be eligible for $2500 state rebate.
When I signed my lease a month ago, I have to do 30 months in order to be eligible for the state rebate.
I did $3150 MSD, $0 down, $443/month for 24 months, which I only pay 23 months.
Minus the $2500 rebate, total out of pocket is about$10k. It is for '17 REx, sticker at $50k.

Correction. 30 months lease. So $443 x 29 months.

Thanks everyone its been helpful. Im trying to cut my monthly to under $300. It doesnt justify me paying more than that. My gas car bill is usually under $200. Now if I was going go own the car a higher monthly I wouldnt mind.

Nothing beats if you work at the BMW dealer, my service tech just leased one for 99 dollars a month!

Pays to work their !

Well I bought mine back in 2014 because I wanted it and knew later I could upgrade the batteries in a few years and get more mileage.

What I did though was get the customers choice, so I did a three year 10k miles a year for 680 a month, 5k down 55k dollar price.

After the 10k dollar dealer discount, 7500 dollar government check and 4500 dollar Chicago check took off 22k right off the bat!

Now the best part is after I take it back to the dealer after the three years, I will have technically a balloon payment to pay off the rest of the car or just walk away, but since the resale is so bad, I will have the dealer buy back the car and then certify it, buy it back from them at another 10k to 12k less depending what their resale looks like at the end of this year, with the new cars having more mileage it will make mine even cheaper. All in all may have had a high monthly but in all I haven't spent much and I owned it brand spanking new.
