GPS position incorrect

The car's navigation has my location wrong by about 20 miles. It's been like this all day today. Weird thing is that the app has my car's position correct. Anyone encounter this? I tried resetting the system, waiting an hour and trying again and all the same.

I use gps fitness devices almost daily. Once or twice a year, they glitch and position is way off. Then the next time I use it, all’s good. So, an infrequent glitch is normal to me. If it sticks, I would worry.

I currently have a similar issue. I know its been a few months. But did you find a resolution? Other vehicles that report this type of issue often end up having to replace the navigation antenna. Since we don't have a shark fin antenna I don't know where its located on the iX.

Dealer SA said it will take a few hours to trouble shoot. Scheduled for next week. I'll report back.

Mine resolved itself in like a week on its own. I had driven hundreds of miles in that time. Was waiting for my service appointment when it fixed itself.

Have you tried a ‘hard’ reboot of the car?

My location issue was diagnosed as a failure in the TCB or Telematics Control Unit. Unit was replaced under warranty and now the GPS system seems to be functioning normally.

I still have this. It only happens it seems sheet car has been parked in garage. I live in area with poor mobile signal but not are this is A-GPS based anyway? Has been resolving itself after around 5-10 minutes of driving. It never used to do this though.

I read recently that some criminals use GPS jammers so their cars cannot be tracked. I wonder if you might have one nearby...

Ha. All I have are horses, sheep, pigs and the occasional deer or turkey I do feel it is related to parking in garage but never seen this with any other car in the past.

All my Garmins have been inaccurate until they came out with one that has a dual band receiver. Now they are much better. My latest Garmin is Epix2. Does the BMW use the latest GPS receivers?

My old E46 never had this issue when parked in a garage. Or my F10 that was in this same garage.

This has happened to me a couple of times - nav is way off on the screen (5-15 miles). But if you log in to the my bmw app, your position is correct. So the car actually knows the right position, but it's presenting the wrong one on the screen.

I reboot twice (hold down 90 seconds), leave the car alone for 10 min (quick grocery store run), come back & enter a new destination. In a few seconds it snaps back to normal.

Surely the app is using your phone GPS though and not the cars? Or are you saying if you look for the cars location in the app it shows accurate? Mine is only off by hundreds of feet / low hundreds of meters.
