Lower priced EVs are coming and infrastructure is improving. I think market share will increase in fits and starts. EVs really are superior in most ways.

my wife's Kia EV6 GT (yup it was 40% off list!) drives better on public roads than my M340i or my M550i

if a Kia can do that, a BMW should knock it out of the park

the only limitation is range and charging so would be situational and differ person to person. i also can't see it being a very involving track car coz i prefer ICE, banging gears, noise, and F82 ballpark weight on track.

while it has no soul it has a lot of spirit and i absolutely love the way i can blast past everyone at the twitch of my toes, corners flat and on rails like a rollercoaster with only 255 PS4S tires. there is no waiting for turbo spool, waiting for gear change, waiting for who knows what the computer is waiting for. you think and before you finish thinking the car's gone. just instant.

I just returned my rental Mini Countryman - it was quite a nice ride. Sprightly, premium feeling. BMW will knock it out of the park.

So then why the masquerade of publishing a Ring laptime? my point is, it’s irrelevant for EVs, so focus on all the other metrics discussed here.

1. I can have more than one car at the track.
2. I can run 25 minute sessions at full speed? All I need and more. When I ran my 550i, I backed off on the front straight because 120 was plenty and 140 was a bit much for me.
3. Most cars can't run 25 minute sessions at full bore without significant mods to brakes, cooling, and/or oiling.
4. I'd expect, if this is a full blown M car, that a 25 minute session won't be a problem.

Me? I'm waiting for a small, light, RWD EV, like an FRS.

Well - I love the Sound in Sport/Sport Boost in the i4 M50.

And believe it or not - it’s louder compared to our 2022 EU Spec M8 Competition ( which is really silent cause you due to EU Regulations the car comes with 4 catalytic converters, 2 resonators, 2 opfs, 1 middle silence and the 3 stage rear muffler plus all pops and bang are coded out in the dme‘s from factory).

But I would love to have the sounds from the iX in the i4.

Big fan of the „expressive sound“ mode and the others made by Hans Zimmer.

Sounds just for me - don’t care about others so can be quit outside 😂

But that’s just me being an „egoist“ 😂

it makes ICE and gearbox sounds indoors and outdoors!

only a matter of time before other cars make ICE noises instead of spaceship eeries

I am more into spaceships.

Star Wars Guy ;-)

Would love to be able to switch to all the different Pod Racer Sounds, Tie Fight, Snowspeeder etc.

That would be awesome - 😎

Still have big hopes in Porsche to continue but I guess Disney is asking for too much now

Don't know why you would call BMW wagons a joke. They are basically the same chassis as the sedan. They also make an M3 and M5 wagon. They are plenty sporty.

EVs instant torque is something you use and feel, every time you drive it. The fact that you can have over 500HP in an 90MPGe EV is amazing. Again, if I had the choice of being noisy and slow compare to silent and fast, I would take the later every time.

Look at the 22 Goodwill Festival Of Speed, where new records were set. The fastest cars were EVs, and are anything but boring.

Impressed by that Porsche Gt4. 3 sec faster than the GT3.

I think if I am going electric that would be it. Home to work in a very efficient speed.

i have the Kia GT, this thing is a freaking toy. like a real live RC car. insanely good toy. but the battery discharges so fast when i'm having fun it's just a toy. still have to take the slow dinosaur M550i to travel my 10 hrs in a day.
