Sorry we have been very busy with customers cars so this project has been on the back burner. Springs are inbound from the UK and wheels are on order! Also this just came out of paint. I will be adding the new parts to the iND site as the project moves forward.

For the install all you need is an 8mm socket.

Remove the 3x 8mm bolts on the fender liner

Pull the liner back to access the amber core reflectors

Press on the outside of the reflector to release the reflector from the bumper cover

OEM core removed

Remove all 3M tape from inside the bumper cover before installing the new set

Remove the protective tape on the new painted reflectors

Press the new reflector in and make sure the 3M tape makes contact with the bumper cover

Re install the 3x 8mm bolts and enjoy

Awesome!

Do those orange reflectors that you've removed serve any purpose?

In the USA our government regulations say they do, however in Europe and many other parts of the developed world they do not and are actually deleted from the car. Looks cleaner without them. I'd recon to say any safety they give is minimal as the last time I remember even seeing reflex was when a car was driving at night without his headlights or tail lights on and the reflex where lighting up.

Don't know if that's an issue with this car.

Also if your car is stationary and parked in the street they light up so you don't run into it but the cars usually light up with my headlights anyhow.

I wouldn't miss them.

But something tells me you already knew this and more probably .

.

Many of our rules, safety or not are outdated and linger just like the sunroof rule about it needing to be attached to a metal substrate. Which keeps the sunroof on the i3 from being offered.

Also ABS on semi trucks would save lives, their standard on semis in Europe and keeps the truck from jack knifing but a law here in the USA keeps them from being offered and we are forced to have the manual way which is horribly flawed.

Anyway I know where your coming from but alas we are a free country and people can do whatever they want as long as they are open to the consequences they get them selves into in the off chance they get in trouble for covering a side marker.

With the cars that are out their with missing panels and God knows what is going on under the hood or even who's behind the wheel, a side marker is the least of my concern

Just got an MSRP quote for those gorgeous i- blue 3-piece wheels. $1,900.00 per wheel. I'm out. Fun to dream about, tho'.
