My 10K/24 month lease for 2014 i3-REX with a few bare bones options.

$333 per month, net of everything below (0 state sales tax in NJ on electric cars).

$0 down on the car, upfront payment to cover the inception fees (BMW FS lease inception, first month payment, license & registration, etc).

YMMV,

If you start with a basic 2014 BEV i3 (MSRP of $42.4K + $950 destination, invoice of $39,51K), than subtract -$7.5K BMW cash, you will be leasing a car with $32.96K purchase price.

My REX had 63% residual for 10K/24 month lease, lets assume it's the same for BEV.

With 0 down, 0 fees upfront and current promotional MY'14 i3 MF = 0.0083 (APR = 2.0%), you will be looking at a monthly payment of $285.62 / month.

Realistically, there will be upfront fees ($750 BMW FS, at least), then state registration (varies), sales taxes (varies from 0 to whatever it may be in your state), to dealer profit margin. But if you pay those upfront, you can count on a monthly payment of ~$285 for '14 BEF and ~$312 for '14 REX.

However, you have to hurry, and snap-up a few of the remaining '14 i3's, as promotional terms only apply to MY'14. For MY'15, the BMW cash is lower, while MSRP/invoice and MF are higher.

HTH,
a

This probably won't help in your search but I picked up three i3's for my family last month here in NJ. All of them for under $200/mo and no money down. $0 due at signing and all of the fees included. FYI, there are no sales taxes on i3's in NJ.

The key is to find 2014 demo/loaner cars and have the dealer DEEPLY discount them. I took advantage of the $5,500 lease cash (after the negotiated sales price) and with the high residual on a 2 year lease, these cars were a steal.

2014's are getting scarce and demo/loaners are even harder to find but good luck!

I'm not having any luck. Lowest quote so far is $320/month. I don't understand how you guys are getting in the 200s (or lower) with no money down. Can I get the car in a different state and pay to ship? I need a willing dealer.

Anyone recommend a dealer with large incentives for an i3? Interested in 24 month if the monthly payments are less than $300

I've found the price you can get greatly depends on where you are. I'm in WI and got $11k over a 2 year 20k lease on a 2014 REx but this car has every option except metallic paint so starting price is obviously higher.

I almost leased a Mega with a few less options for about $10k over the 2 years.

Some of the best states seem to be CA, CO, GA. Ridiculous deals there.

McKenna BMW in Norwalk wanted $591/month for a punched 2014 Giga REX (V276503)!

Dealer MSRP: $52595 (sticker $52400)
Selling: ~$48k (invoice)
Incentives: $5500 lease cash, $1000 Team USA
30-month term, 12K/year, Buy-rate MF, $995 acq fee

Dealer kept the $2K build-out as "market adjustment" for the fact that this punched car has a Green carpool sticker.

I walked, but did sign up for the Team USA credit.

HTH,

Your $285 payment example doesn't include use tax per month, correct? if leased in PA, your example payment would be $311.

This thread, and the current '14 BMW offer got me thinking about a 3rd car. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable when calculating leases, but even BMW's advertised offer ($239) isn't adding up and I question whether there is some more $$$ somewhere???

63% residual
.00083 MF

$44000 ($27,720 residual)
-$3000 Down payment (which we all know is a no-no)
-$7500
=$33500
-$27720
=$5780/24=$240.83 + $50.81 (MF $33500+27720x.00083)=$291.64 (and this is before use tax depending on your state PA 9%=$317.89)

How are they coming up with a $239 (before use tax) payment. I would totally jump on a $260.51 PA lease?

BTW, Can the Drive USA monies also be applied? Increasing the total cash to $8500
Unlike other parts of the country, there seems to be quite a few remaining '14 i3s around

Taxes vary by state.
A lot.
In NJ, sales tax on electric vehicles is 0.00%.

In other states it's above zero, but you get some fixed $$ amount back in state rebates. In others, you get nothing and pay full tax.

You are neglecting to subtract dealer's margin by calculating all prices from MSRP. When I was shopping around few months ago, invoice + $500 upfront profit for the dealer (messy to account for the back end) still shaved $3.7K off MSRP.

Following your math, but subtract $3.7K from the price paid, and with ZERO downpayment you are looking at spreading $5180K over 24 months = $211.67 + 50.81 (MF) = $262.18.

It would only take $556 down to take your monthly payment down to the advertised $239 / month. BMW NA usually advertises lease payment quotes net of some down payment that covers inception fees (BMW FS lease, etc) and a little extra to make advertised monthly payment look look and affordable.

BMW may not be assuming you will squeeze dealer profits as hard, but instead could be throwing in "anniversary" or "green" or some other "kumbaya" discounts. Same result.

Good luck shopping,
a
