CAR's road trip across America: BMW i8 vs Huracan, Mustang GT and SRT Hellcat

COMMENTS

A backstage video from CAR magazine UK's recent Days Of Thunder road trip across America in four special sports cars. It's a high-octane Ryder Cup of cars, as we pit hybrid BMW i8 and all-petrol Lambo Huracan against Dodge SRT Hellcat and Ford Mustang GT across the roads of California and Nevada.

Well that was superficial. I'd get more by reading the specs on each car. Except to learn that the Huracan seats are horrible.

Thanks for the video posting but a Road Trip across America in a 3:40 min video...

... can't be too fulfilling ...

I was hoping for a longer video myself (for a five day road trip) but it appears there is a 26 page write up in the February edition of Car Magazine.

Between the four, I'd take the i8, of course, and the hellcat.

I ran a buddy of mine who has an i8 with my M4 and he beat me to 50 while I couldn't gain any traction, then he was in my rearview mirror for the rest of the run

i8 1/4 mile of 12.6 at 111 isnt really saying much...

i understand were comparing apples to oranges (electric to turbo) but it is what it is. if you start comparing it to cars in its class like 918 and tesla model s, its still not saying much either. tesla model s runs a 12.6 also...

I bet a million ricers will argue how their cars are lot faster than Porsches and they do it cheaper.

Arguing with you is like meeting someone at a WalMart. You just don't get it.
agree with this. i8 isnt about going fast. its sleek and sexy and its the future. but i dont understand when people say its such a fast car

I found the video entertaining, it is a teaser anyways. Every car got a good review after all and it is great that there are so many different ways to make cool cars nowadays. Everybody can pick their preferred option so to say. Huracan was overdue, i8 is needed to make BMW a bit less boring, Hellcat is over the top cool and Mustang is new and will get bigger engines down the road.

Enjoy them for what they are and vote with your checkbook

My first 996 turbo was remapped to close to 500 bhp. Guess what, the i8 accelerates in a very similar way. It is a very quick car in my view.

More importantly, it feels very light on its feet, it is so easy to use in all circumstances unlike those big supercars that need big open spaces.

First of all, as a cyclist that frequently rides some of the roads featured in the video: STAY ON YOUR FUCKING SIDE OF THE ROAD!!!

Secondly, it's cool that the Huracan actually has a dip stick!
