BMW unsure about the next generation i3 and i8 models...
BMW Still Pondering Whether New i3 and i8 Models Are Feasible

Things to think about: - Back in November, BMW sold off 49% of their carbon fiber business. - It's been almost 4-5 years since the i8 was launched and we haven't heard or saw anything about the new i8 or i3, let alone the rumored i5. |

There is a fair bit of debate about the future of the i8. IMO part of the justification to the bean counters was raising visibility of the BMW brand as futuristic. But of course green does not resonate as much as tire burning performance...
