Tint Recommendations for Sophisto Grey i8
Hi,
I picked up a second hand i8 a few months ago and it came with REALLY dark tints, i'm finding them too dark. I think the wing mirrors already have some kind of auto dimming feature on them so when you add the tint into the mix as well it can make driving quite dangerous i think. Just wanted to get some thoughts on what tint you all think looks best on the i8, a sophisto grey one to be specific. The dark tint looks and works quite well on the rear window, as it gives added security. I'm tempted to keep that one the same and then maybe only change the four windows within the main cockpit to a lighter shade, but that might look dodgy if they don't all match. Interested to know your thoughts! Thank you |

I think mine is 20%, and yes...it's quite dark at night. I usually roll my windows down if I'm doing some late night back roads driving.
It all boils down to personal preference. I'm not a fan of staggered look either, although I do have it on my Range Rover since the rears were already dark (wasn't willing to go as dark in the front to match). If it's too dark, I would vote just lightening it up all around.

I've not done to mine, but have considered it.
What percentage tint causes a visibility problem? Anyone have pictures of their car, with the percentage tint known please? |

Here's a few shots in various conditions.
I think it's actually 25%, as that's what I see on the tinter's website. Honestly that's as far as I would go. Even that is quite dark at night.

Is tinting the windscreen and front side windows illegal (in the UK)?
I?ve also seen questions on car insurance sites where you?re asked to declare aftermarket tints so if you want to be watertight in terms of insurance you should probably declare tints? |

I got mine tinted as well (except windscreen) and I really like it. No problems so far. Neither by driving in the dark nor with the cops. (knock on wood - not really legal here...)
