wow that's so amazing I would have never expected this. I'm not even bummed the i8 and 3 series didn't make first because it would have been wrong to lose to those first place winners...

While this sounds great for BMW, honestly I would never make a purchase based on an entertainment show's host's opinion.
Top Gear is fun to watch, but I prefer to make my own decisions about most things in life. Just because some old guy likes (or dislikes) something doesn't mean people should (or should not) buy something. Don't let someone else make your decisions in life. I could care less about his opinions. |

If you think Jeremy hates BMWs, you must have not been paying very close attention. On Top Gear he called the E46 M3 CSL and E60 M5 two of the greatest cars of all time and the criticism he did have of the M5 was mostly valid, SMG is pure garbage and there were too many options for transmission shift speed, engine power, etc. the F10 does a great job of simplifying the options while still giving you enough customization.
He also said the 135i was one of the best drivers cars on the market when it first launched in an article he wrote for The Times and Top Gear's website. |

It's clearly not Jeremy's list. The article is from Jeremy, the list itself is from the website people. That's pretty self-evident.
If Jeremy did a top 10 cars list, I expect it to be hilarious. I'd be surprised if he named any generation 3 series. He wouldn't write anything even remotely serious or truthful, he'd probably "eat his own hair first" .

Obviously I'm biased as I've got 1 coming in a few weeks but they all agreed on top gear UK that the F10 M5 was the best car in the world at the time and the only problem was that the 530D was so good it made justifying the extra cash a problem.
Going from a 530D to an M5 I'm pretty happy. |

The difference between Europe (Top Gear) and American journalists is Top Gear looks at cars overall where as American's they pick an area and judge a car by that. If you take the 3-Series, for example, and view it for everything, there's a strong case that yes, it is the best in the segment. Same with the M5. You want a luxury car? Put it in comfort. Want a little more excitement? Throw it into Sport/Sport+, it's two cars in one.

Outside of the main show he also wrote that the E92 M3 was the best in its class, and they all praised it during the show where the X3 was bullied. In his DVD he also expressed that the 1-series M coupe was the most fun car of the year, and I remember he wrote that he preferred the new Z4 over the SLKs and the Boxters of the time when it came out. |
