Well put deposit on grey with silver accents 16 reg pick the beauty up next Friday, Traded my 15 reg BMW 430D X drive M Sport plus which was a great car. I'll need a sit down at the thought of spending that much on some wheels. Just need to decide if I should get a tracker fitted and I want to get paint protection done so if anyone has any recommendations for a U.K. North based company. Is there anything else I should consider getting? Claire

Congratulations. I hope you enjoy driving the i8 as much as I have. Another item you may wish to consider is rear and side window tints. Besides adding some privacy, the tint has made a noticeable difference in cabin temperature.

Agreed. I always tint, but the i8 has been my first car that I actually needed it. My arms were getting cooked!

Mate I've had a UK system now for 5 years supplied by global telemetrics which I would recommend. They were recommended aftermarket by BMW when I bought my previous M car and transferred over to the i8
I can send some screenshots of functionality if your interested. Basically you are given a key fob which safes the tracker. If not you usually get a call in 5 minutes from the 24/7 call centre saying vehicle movements are detected. You will then be asked for a password. There also is an app that gives you location and status. I am based in Scotland/Manchester and they will come to your home and install anywhere in U.K. Last edited by Mightymousemighty; 02-17-2017 at 03:40 PM.. |

Congrats. I'm loving mine which I bought in December.
Ref the fracker you will get much better insurance quotes with one. And if you're the second owner it may already have a tracker fitted. I checked mine before paying to have one fitted and it already had the BMW approved Trackstar. Give them a call and they will tell you if there's one on the car already. You may want to consider the Trackstar and fitting by an approved installer so you don't invalidate any parts of your warranty. If there's no Trackstar try calling a few of the other main tracker companies to check and if you can get in touch with the previous owner. I bought a three year pack for about £400 as I intend on keeping the car for a while. |
