Yeah I've seen a few, a customer had a V8 for a little while when the R8 was new, so I had a poke around it then, also our project manager/architect had an R8 Spyder (and previously an RS5) as loaners after the Audi garage crashed his R8 V8, which I got a ride in.. also there are a couple of others around my town, and of course I've seen, and photographed, plenty at the race track....

... and what can I tell you, I don't much like it.. I mean it's nothing special, and in profile it's downright awkward looking.

But that doesn't really matter, I've no problem with you liking the R8 at all... but I still do not see any resemblance to an Audi in the i8, whatsoever, and I maintain that Audi wouldn't style something in such a brave fashion... just look at the Quattro concept!! It's dull and predictable! The only reason why the Nanuk concept wasn't quite as boring is because it's a vaguely warmed over Audi Branded version of the Lambo Parkour concept.

Audi's are boring and lack flair - these aren't two criticisms I think you could level at the i8.

.. to be fair.. the R8 will sound a lot better I'm sure!!!

Also, I'd be curious to see 4 people in the i8.. just two adults and two kids would be impressive (assuming the kids had both legs and their heads still attached)...

I'd be even more curious to see a video of them getting in and out of the car!!

Really people it's a supercar not a minivan so those rear seats are not even necessary. I find them ridiculous anyway.

Yup. I have now watched a couple videos from the Frankfort show, including from EVO.

Everyone can stop calling it a car for 4 adults.

The rear seats are almost 911-like, pad for your ass and pad for your back. Leg room is almost non-existent.

Are there any videos available showing people entering/exiting the vehicle? Wondering how the ingress/egress is.

Oh okay. Thanks for the explanation. I am glad BMW didn't do that then.

They still seem happy to stick it on the roof of M cars though. Of course those panels may just be a full 3k layup.

This is my favorite shot. Shows all of the models in BMW's lineup, along with a few Minis and RRs in the back. However, they should have had all the Bimmers with M-Sport

I see my F07 5er GT there, I think it actually looks pretty good next to some of the others. Funny though, I do not see any F10's or F34's, hmm...

i8 looks great. Although it is expensive, it is different a huge achievement for BMW, and it shows they can make beautiful supercar-like designs. Now time to start working on a real SLS and R8 competitor...

It almost looks like a non-crimp carbon configuration. [Edit. looked again. its definitely non-crimp]

BMW formed a partnership with SGL carbon to do a lot of their carbon work. Traditional carbon is woven like the picture quoted previously, but the overlaps actually create weak points in the fabric where it is "crimped". Non-crimp is just straight fibers that are stitched together horizontally. This configuration also lets resin flow more easily through the fabric when in a closed vacuum mold. Result is a lighter composite with more carbon, less resin. Meaning less weight and more strength.

That is going to be one weird car to detail. Imagine trying to wax over the rear wheels of that thing.

I'm so glad to be in LA only because you get to see every vehicle under the sun that is sold in North America, and I CAN'T wait to see the i cars on the roads here in LA. Who knows, maybe they'll be an i8 in my garage in the near future

Love everything about this car but now stick a V10 in it to make it a work of art.

Beautiful car, but I will take Tesla over this anytime, you won't see many of these around.
