Yeah, it’s not exactly confirmed but where there is smoke there is usually fire. Hope it’s total fake though.
Or maybe Musk went the usual corporate way. Fire all old and highly paid people and hire new for 60% of their salaries. |

Why would anyone expect any less. Dude is a chaos monkey. It's too early but this drama is self inflicted and the solution has been there if they wanted to take it.

Musk knows how to make money…he is not going to jeopardize a developing cash cow. The entire article is nothing but assumptions and click bait around the termination of a VP and unconfirmed assumptions about layoffs. The sky is not falling….

Maybe the current daimyos didn’t share the Shōgun's vision (re - non-Tesla manufacturers using the network). That never worked out well for them historically. At least they get to keep their heads. Presumably.

I think the layoffs have been confirmed as legit...
"Just two weeks after Tesla laid off at least 14,000 workers across the world, CEO Elon Musk is planning layoffs for hundreds of additional staffers — including the bulk of the company’s Supercharger team and several executives. Musk wrote in an email sent to senior Tesla executives late Monday night, first reported by The Information, that he wanted to be “absolutely hardcore” about reducing Tesla’s workforce. He added that, beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, he will ask any executive “who retains more than three people who don’t obviously pass the excellent, necessary and trustworthy test” to resign. He also announced that two executives would depart Tesla on Tuesday morning: Rebecca Tinucci, a six-year veteran of the company who overseas its Supercharger division, and Daniel Ho, who has been at Tesla for more than 10 years and leads its new products division. Ho has previously been the program manager for the Model S, Model 3, and Model Y. Most of Tinucci’s 500-person team will also be leaving the company Tuesday, although a few will reportedly be reassigned to other teams, The Information reports. Tinucci has been instrumental in leading Tesla’s electric vehicle charging business and convincing Western automakers to adopt the North American Charging Standard — a feat that landed her on Time magazine’s 100 Climate list. Tesla stock sank more than 2% in pre-market trading Tuesday." |

There is a chance that they got enough development in that area to just stop it for a while and to just keep building up the network. After all, there is not a whole lot of revolutionary stuff in the charging world. Just send the right current to the battery.

The article was actually very clear about not staying that this is a vetted fact and that it is speculative. Odds are it is half true; they probably made deep cuts in that department (as with others) in an attempt to make their next quarterly results look better. Juicing that stock price is their #1 priority. Then in August they will be announcing their to be released "perpetually next year"© robotaxi where they'll pretend again that their FSD system is ready for this (spoiler alert, it isn't) and then maybe a bit later they'll try to juice it up a bit by showing us the progress on their Tesla robot which maybe they'll have made more useful than the Nintendo Entertainment System's R.O.B. .....maybe.... |

The puppet board should have fired Musk long ago. He's great at startups, but sucks at maturing companies.

I don't think any sane leader in technology at scale would agree with that statement. A 1% reduction in loss of energy delivery will can have a significant improvement in revenue. Thinking about things like SiC, high voltage vehicles, energy delivery to a new fleet of vehicles which will require longer cables and it's own challenges wrt energy loss and MCS or Megawatt energy delivery for medium and heavy duty vehicles. But then we're not talking about a sane leader. Then there is the on again/off again cheaper T*. I guess the low cost future model will be a stripped down 3 or Y which only makes me think of the 2CV. Maybe we'll see lawn chair webbing for seats and optional rear seats at a reduced cost? How else could these cars be stripped down from where they are today?

“Good enough” might be ok for now and better than goong for the elusive “the best”. All those wires and pins do have their physicsl limits after all.

This has been confirmed by multiple sources including the NYT:
https://www.motortrend.com/news/tesl...ost-reduction/ This is what happens when the government and automakers hand the keys to the National DCFC charging network to a Sociopath. It’s a fcuking travesty! |

Lots of Tesla hate on this board…and some of it’s deserved, some not. That said, any of us who purchased or leased an IX prior to six months ago made their decision with no preconceived notion that Tesla superchargers would become widely available to BMWs. Seeing the potential of slowing supercharger rollouts is a bit like having an unexpected gift partially taken away. That said I’m still potentially better off than when I made my lease decision.
The adoption of the NACS standard is good for EV adoption in general because it makes individual chargers available to more potential customers. What perhaps is more concerning is that Elon might be recognizing the harsh reality that the rate of increase in EV adoption has slowed greatly and network development will slow accordingly. Elon’s antics get tiring, but he is nonetheless pretty good at reading the tea leaves.🍂 |

Musk opening NACS means he could step out of charging network business entirely if he wants. Maybe not entirely today but getting others to invest in Tesla-compatible charging may have been part of the plan. If SC is not a huge profit center on its own, then that’s quite a heavy lift to scale and maintain as purely a selling point for your own EVs. |
