BMW's list of upcoming electric vehicles

i5 is not next on the list (2021 as the iNEXT?)... Looks like electric X3 is first to come.

In 2018, the BMW i8 Roadster.
In 2019, a pure electric MINI.
In 2020, a pure electric BMW X3.

The standard business case studies on squandering early-mover advantage will soon feature BMW's neutered foray into EV world.

They were in the lead pack, they got scared and pulled back (back to the future with hybrids), they got swamped and became a statistic.

Sad to witness it unfolding before you eyes, in slow-mo...

This might work out great for me, as my 2017 X3d will be coming off lease and I am a big EV fan (owned a smart EV and now an I3 REX).

That list should be inverted. X3s and SUVs sell. $140,000 super cars don't.

I thought the same thing about supercars. I am surprised how many of these BMW has sold in that price range. Not as many as Tesla, but still I thought it would be a flop.

That said, I am very glad to see the eX3 as the next one. I would be all in on that one. 200 mile range and some enhanced fastcharging, or an adaptor that allows tesla supercharging and I would be driving one.

Why should Tesla be allowed to dump their cars on the market as the company loses money on every car it produces. Their are laws to stop dumping goods on the market.

Tesla actually makes money on every car they sell, in fact their gross margins are among the best (MB, BMW, etc), however they choose to dump lots of money into research and development for the future growth of EV's, and then they use up all the rest of this money.

Its the way biz in done in the silicon valley/wall street growth model. Its worked for Amazon, Facebook, PayPal, Apple, Google, etc.

You can see it in their balance sheet and their financial reports. I believe their gross profit margin is near 25% across the Model S and X line.

On the topic. I really hope the X3e is engineered as EV from ground up rather than an after thought...
