Man ... Check out the crazy roll cage in there.... Madness! Surely this is not a "stock" i8 engine tuning wise - maybe BMW will tell us more about it soon!

They probably set the "engine sound" setting on the stereo to V8

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why harnesses were invented. And why, when wearing a harness, you should ACTUALLY TIGHTEN IT.

I wouldn't call that drifting so much as a coming to a stop sideways... Nonetheless, as an engineer myself, this was quite fun to watch!

I drove one yesterday. I can tell you it won t drift. I tried everything hold the dsc button for half an hour

'but still no drift.

The car you see in the movie is no original i8 which you buy in the showroom!

A standard i8 will NOT drift!

And the sound from the 3 cylinder is crap. In car it feels you drive an v8 engine. Nice sound from the speakers lol

Sounded very much like a I3 to me. Because of the odd number of cylinders, an I3 sounds a bit like a cross between a flat-6 at driven hard at very low RPM and an I5. Less so the I5, but you get a bit of that warble that comes from an I5.

A buddy of mine had a Geo Metro with an I3 back when we were in high school together. He (of course!) cut the muffler off with a Sawzall one weekend before finally taking the heap to the junkyard, receiving the utterly unfair compensation of $200. It actually sounded pretty bad ass. Granted A) no one is going to straight pipe their i8, and B) it has a turbo, so it (oddly enough) will never sound as good as a straight piped Geo Metro. Ha! There's something you don't hear every week

Triumph in-line triple motorcycle engines sound pretty mean ... it can be done. We all know the i8 sound is synthesized but there was a video floating around a while back (few months ago) with the sound turned off and it still sounded good. In fact, many comments had people wondering if the fake sound was on during that video or not.
